Instead of everyone in the universe knowing that Demarco Murray is getting the ball handed to him on the first play of the game (and in general, on most first downs), just once I'd like to see play action with a long ball thrown to either Williams or Dez (whichever one has the single coverage) on the first play - would really be nice to shock the Packers with a completion on a play like that and wondering the rest of the game if they could just go after the run on first down.

There was a 1st down play early in the Lions game where the guy covering T.Williams dropped down in the box before the snap. Williams twice pointed to him. If Romo had just kept the ball and tossed it to Williams it would have been a big play, but instead that defender stopped Murray right at the line.

In the second Eagles game, we recovered the muffed opening kickoff and started inside the Philly 20 yard line with play-action and an incomplete pass.
We started the 49ers game with a false start, followed by a pass on 1st-and-15.
In every other game this season, our first offensive play has been a Murray run.

I'm quite sure that the game plan will call for a Murray run on our first play.

it depends on whether we get the ball first or not. If we get the ball first, I am all for a pass, even play action right off the bat. I think it would set the tone that were are in full attack mode.

however, if we get the ball second, I would prefer to run murray on first down, especially if the Packers are able to score or even punt it and pin us in the redzone.

Against the skins week 17 we really opened it up.. mixing up run/pass extremely well especially in the first half.

Play action pass to any single covered receiver may not be a bad idea ! Not necessarily a long pass , just a medium range play of 10 plus yards

I understand what you're saying. But, a run is the right call for many reasons. An incompletion on first down lends itself to aother pass on 2nd down, gives the defense hope, and gets the crowd louder.

A run allows our team strength to establish itself. Even if there's no gain, we establish that we'll keep coming all day.

We complained about being pass happy for years. There's no sense in changing now. Establish the run and bring the play action thereafter.

Stretch run to the right.
