I saw more pressure tonight from no-names then I saw from Marcus Spears and Victor Butler in years.

Selvie... we must keep him.

The dude wore out at the end big time though.

Loved, loved, loved the comment that Marinelli suggested Ware, Hatcher, Ratliff, Spencer might be his best starting line *ever.* Lol.

That aside, a lot of the rotational guys looked pretty good, too. Selvie and Nick Hayden, in particular. It's preseason, so you can't really draw any conclusions from it, but for a line of backups playing against a line of starters, they looks pretty good to me on passing downs, at least.

Do whatever, I mean WHATEVER it takes to keep Marinelli.

Don't be surprised if he's offered a HC after this year. If he had scrubs playing that well in their first bit of action just think what the starters will do in the regular season and possibly playoffs. Wouldn't surprise me a bit to see a team or two possibly try and woo him.

I'm confident in the backup DEs (Selvie, Pendleton, Wilber), but not so sure about the DTs. I can still see us having problems providing a consistent pass rush up the middle. Hatcher is really our only interior pass rusher, and I have a feeling we won't be seeing much of Ratliff this season.

Marinelli is 64 years old & has experienced life as an NFL Head Coach. Whatever people want to say about Mr. Jones, he added talented coaches this offseason. Marinelli was a tremendous hire to work in tandem with Monte Kiffin. The reason he won't leave is Jerry's willing to pay Defensive Coordinator type money for a position coach. When you look at the Coaching Staff, Marinelli & Callahan are tremendous assets. Neither will be allowed to leave, they'll just be rewarded with raises and/or extensions if the season goes according to plan.

Monte Taylor got free on a few rushes as well. The Dolphin's OL sucks in a big way though so trying not to get too excited.

Yeah the Dolphins have huge problems at LT. I still don't see why they let Long go. He was overpaid but still a good LT.

Talk about priorities. They cut their LT so they won't overpay, then they overpay for an overrated WR.

Completely agree. No way we can let him go. Hopefully the thinking at VR is he for him to take over when Kiffen walks away.

Lovie Smith is really the primary obstacle there. Wherever he goes, he needs a defensive coordinator.

It'd be especially bad to lose Marinelli if we're trying to replace Spencer, Hatcher and Ratliff (or any two of those three) at the same time this offseason. Ouch.

The big plus is that I think Marinelli is more loyal to Kiffin then he is to Lovie.

After he has been here for a couple of years he may grow to really love being here and agree to stay on as DC when Kiffin retires. By that point these will be his boys and he'll take a lot of pride in his work and accomplishments here. I also really hope he gets a chance to mentor someone in taking over as the DL coach utilizing his techniques once he is done. I'm not sure Lett is that guy but it'd be great if he is. He is certainly a DL that honed his craft in getting off at the snap and penetrating into the backfield so they have the same approach.

The future may be Eberfluss who seems to do a great job at getting the LBs ready to play during his time here. He probably still needs a few more years of grooming, though.

I agree, I could see Lovie pushing hard for Marinelli to go with him, wherever he gets hired. I'd hope that Marinelli will be content with some agreement that he'll take over from Kiffin shortly. Sounds like he's a big Garrett fan, which might help in keeping him.

Marinelli isnt going anywhere. Guy has already said hes not worried about being a HC. Aslong as Kiffin is around Marinelli is here. And when Kiffin is gone Marinelli is the DC. I could see him as the next HC if Garrett was fired.

Lovie, Marinelli, Kiffin...the three are all close, right? (Haven't heard of any issues between Kiffin and Lovie). Maybe Lovie wouldn't put Rod in that situation by poaching the coach. It would be a promotion for Rod, though.
I could see it going either way. I do think Dallas and Monte give him plenty of really good reasons to stay. And who knows where Lovie Smith is going to land and what he's going to have to work with.

If Pendleton plays DE and 330 lbs, that will be a shocker. He is a DT. And I like his size and strength there,
