Dak is tied to a 40 million AAV contract for 3 years

this will hamstring the team and keep them “relevant” but mediocre

he doesn’t care because he will make his money
Put up his stats and then ignorant fans will once again want him to get paid

at this point I’m against signing him
This guy is a mediocre greedy player

unfortunately this organization is run by a buffoon and his son or there would be no question that we are moving on

NO ONE who is a Cowboys fan would ever support such a deal but fans on this site do

You're a sensitive fan. Plus, Dak is not average. You're right about how Dak should not get paid so much, but you're dead wrong to think he is just average.

Jerry is going to let Dak walk and we'll have nothing to show for it other than whatever they win in 2021 and a comp pick. Better be a SB!

The Cowboys are on the verge of becoming the biggest laughing stock in the NFL if the give into Prescotts demands.

You're pretty much spot on with that. I'm not sure how they handle future picks with the draft value chart. If they assume like you suggest, adding another 2nd should suffice. But if they apply the least amount of points per round since it is an unknown, then even that wouldn't be enough.

The only issue with that is Dak doesn't really have to accept a trade. No team is going to want Dak if he doesn't want to sign a long term deal with them. Then Dallas is stuck with him at 37.7 million for one year. Which is a waste.

LOL a 3 year deal. Why? So he can soak them again after 3 years to be the highest possible cap hit? Jerry is borderline making a fool of himself if he does this. Tank and Zeke both played chicken with him and both won. Lets see if Jerry can lose hat trick.

On a more important note, Fish is quite literally the peanut gallery. Let's not lose sight of that.

KC chased after Mahomes even though he never played a down in the NFL.

And speaking of no guarantees, there's no guarentee those defensive draft picks you are talking about will be any good either.

We all know there will be some good defenders available from cap casualties. That's why I say draft a QB, save the money and build up the defense through free agency. That way you get defensive players with NFL experience.

Re-sign Andy Dalton, draft Zach Wilson and build a defense. Defense wins Championships. And if you don't believe defense wins Championships maybe you should stick to Madden football.

They were a laughing stock before Dak got here lol. Have you seen what we’ve done the past 25 years or is that Daks fault too?

please please please for the love of all that is holy stop with the non-exclusive stuff.
as I've explained many times on this board it is completely meaningless and the worst possible option for Dallas.
they would literally be better off with no tag than non-exclusive.

I am going to be very very clear.
No QB in this draft or 99% of any other draft is as good as Pat Mahomes.
Scouts are very flawed but it was clear Pat was a once in a lifetime talent at QB.
He was so much better than Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray to not be in the same universe.
He has Aaron Rodgers level arm talent and an off-field history that resembles Mother Teresa.
He played through injury and put up 500 yards a game passing.
He had natural arm ability based on touch and instinct that allows weird arm angle passes and left-hand throws because he grew up playing baseball and working those hot potato type skills.

Anyone that wants to take a shot from half court for a QB that's OK. It's rather nuts but OK. I'd personally be out on that 100%. And I mean like don't bother to watch Cowboys football out.
Dallas averaged over 32 PPG last year with Dak. They averaged just over 22 without him. That's an insane drop off.
And that was with arguably the most coveted NFL back up in football in place.

So no thanks on that nonsense plan.

So on Twitter the other day I was in a Dak discussion and Tad Prescott asked me if I balked at Romo getting a huge contract. I said any QB breaking the bank isn’t good cap management, I also told him I thought his brother was a good guy and good leader but my issue was 40 million. His response was Dak never asked for 40 or to be the highest paid QB. I then asked him what the hold up was...years still?... and the conversation ended. He was pleasant snd nice enough. I don’t buy his response unless it’s underlying messsge is that France is the issue and root cause and Dak is just doing what he’s told. I’m with you though that it has to be an over 40 asking price.

You're preaching to the choir on the defense winning championships. Yes you used the best example with Mahomes so now I'll use the worst example on college QB's that were all hyped up as the next best thing since sliced bread that turned out as a bust. The very first pick in a draft was a QB named Jamarcus Russell by the raiders He never made it through his rookie contract and was already out of football.

Now the ravens are the only team to win a Super Bowl with a average or below average QB, Dilfer, but they had a record setting #1 defense. Now with signing Dalton and his zero for 5 record in wildcard games and also WASTING draft picks on a QB so the Cowboys can spend a reduced cap on cap casualties who's price may come down a little but not enough to be able to sign all the players needed to turn their defense into a top 10 defense because they wasted their top couple of picks on that QB. That reminds of a time when the WFT went out and bought all of the top defensive players they could one year hoping to turn their 16th ranked defense into a top 10 defense. They signed Bruce Smith and 3 other top tier defense free agents and that season their defense went from the 16th rank defense to the 18th ranked defense proving that going out an buying the best defenders doesn't always work. I would be all in on signing a defense free agent if the Cowboys were just one player away from having a top 10 defense but we both know that's not the case. Like I said, stick to Madden football.

Let him walk, take the comp pick and pick up a street free agent. There is several that can do what he does.
