That's key. He clustered them himself.
I suspect he does have some insight, but certainly not the detail. Plus you can be sure there are a few on that list that should not be and vice-versa.
Good stuff anyway.

Hmmm. If he doesn't know their order, why would he put them in order?

Seems like he should just list them in no particular order.

I for one am starting to become a little suspicious of "grades." Look at what Seattle has been doing. Taking the guy they want and fits their system. They were kind of laughed at the last 2 drafts with many saying they were constantly reaching, yet they got their guys and it is working. I'm not saying we just grab a 3rd round talent in the 1st but if there is a guy you want and he might not be there on say the late first or early second..why not take him if moving back a few isn't an option.

From listening to Broaddus I think the one change is Vacarro is on the top of that last group- over Austin. Leaving Eifert and Patterson as the possible on the bubble guys.

Here is my interpretation assuming this is accurate.

Group A - almost no chance one of these players falls to 18. Would consider a trade up if one of these players falls into the teens (with the most likely being Star).

Group B - will select from this group if one of them falls to 18 but would not trade up to get. Cowboys feel unlikely that one of the players will fall to 18 unless one of the OG's slide.

Group C - most likely to get one of these players at 18. The odds are very good that S Williams will be available so he may be the mostly likely selection at this point. Question: would Dallas take the CB Rhodes if all the other Group A, B, and C players are gone?

Group D - I think Vacarro is the last player with a first round grade. The Cowboys only take Eifert or Patterson if all other first round graded players are gone and they can't trade down from 18.

I'm skeptical that the Cowboys would really stand tall and take Rhodes in that scenario.

That list looks too much like the consesus rankings you see all over the net to be accurate. It looks more like someone's guess at the top 16 plus 2 bubble guys based on the info readily available at numerous draft sites. Not to mention I highly doubt Dallas has let the actual names leak out.

Mike Fisher seems to be the most "plugged-in" media guy with the Cowboys, even over the Cowboys own media guys. He has been more accurate than most other local media guys when it comes to rumors and that type of thing.

This is true. I just have a hard time believing that Jerry is going to pull the trigger on a trade up.

Fisher noted that it was "possibly" clustered like this and not in any particular order, so it's not necessarily on the money. Broaddus has claimed that Vacarro is ahead of Richardson. So going by that Vacarro is in the C group possibly on top since I don't see them going wr unless they had no other options.

I hope we don't get cute and try to trade down. I hope we reach for a player at 18 or actually trade up. :)

I don't think that he is more plugged in than Eatman or Spagnola. I just think they tow the company line with vigor. Cahill gave a story of Witten getting in the DB vs WR drill line to be matched up with Brodney Poole last year and destroying him on a route and throwing the ball towards some executives telling them to 'get rid of this *expletive* scrub.'

That was right after he had failed his condition test and he was cut soon after. When Cahill gave the story, Eatman chastised him for revealing something 'he didn't think they were supposed to tell about.' Eatman a few years ago picked Bryant Lee and Murray as the top three picks leading up to the draft. That convinced me as to how well he is plugged in. Spagnola is the very definition of a shill even if I don't think he is insidious.

Back before he worked for the Cowboys, Mickey was the best with insider info.

Once he started working for the Cowboys he would wait until after the pick was made to share the info. He knew with certainty that the target in 2009 was Max Unger. He didn't say it before the pick, but he freaked immediately after Unger was picked and said that Unger was "the" guy.

Why would the Cowboys let their draft board leak the day before the draft? Or is this supposed to be a pirated list some reporter took a pic of with his cell phone when nobody was looking?

And if it is a pirated list, why the hell did Dallas let a reporter anywhere near the actual draft board. Maybe this is a plant list that Dallas is leaking on purpose to scare some teams into trading up to get guys that Dallas really doesn't have any interest in.

Either this is some great gamesmanship going on or we have the most incompetent front office in the league letting their actual board get leaked.

At least one of those top-16 will be there when Dallas picks. Geno Smith will be a top-10 pick by some team desperate for QB help, and at least one poorly managed team will make a head-scratcher pick that isn't on that list (probably another QB, hello EJ Manuel).

Bonus points if it's real bad like Miami drafting the Ginn family or Oakland drafting DHB.

I doubt he "saw" the board, but wouldn't be surprised if a drunk Jerry spilled the beans. But it could also be one of the scouts. Hard to believe someone would talk though because they are pretty locked down these days.

I doubt this is accurate at all. Teams typically have a few players with 1st round grades that none of the "experts" do...Sean Lee anyone?...and that varies by each team.

We've seen screen shots of Dallas' board in the past and it's never failed that someone in the top 10 if off the board or graded at least a round lower and someone is graded a round or two higher than everyone thought.

Before the draft, we will hear that only 16 players are worthy of being 1st rounders. After the draft we will hear that each of the Cowboys first 3 picks have 1st round talent :)
