Before the draft, we will hear that only 16 players are worthy of being 1st rounders. After the draft we will hear that each of the Cowboys first 3 picks have 1st round talent :)

You laugh, but the Cowboys had Navarro Bowman as a 1st rounder. You think maybe 30 other teams wish they'd recognized that then?

Mike Fisher seems to be the most "plugged-in" media guy with the Cowboys, even over the Cowboys own media guys. He has been more accurate than most other local media guys when it comes to rumors and that type of thing.

Of course, he might be so plugged in that he's 'helping' out the team a little here.

There are leaks, and then there are 'leaks'....

I know with the smilie you are sort of kidding. But the Cowboys are pretty honest after the draft about where they had guys when they tell. The year they took Dez and Sean Lee they said that both were first round picks and a video of their board proved that to be true. Dez was 12 and Lee was 14 on their board.(23 players had 1st round grades) They also had Navarro Bowman at 20 and could have had him with their 3rd round pick if they had not needed to trade up for Dez with it.

They even admitted that LeSean McCoy was a 1st rounder on their board but they passed on him in the second because they had Barber and had taken Felix and Choice the prior year. That's pretty honest to admit that kind of a mistake.

I was kidding, but I fully expect Micky Spagnola and others to talk up the picks as if they are all future Hall of Famers and I will put on my silver and blue colored glasses and buy into every word of it.

...Cahill gave a story of Witten getting in the DB vs WR drill line to be matched up with Brodney Poole last year and destroying him on a route and throwing the ball towards some executives telling them to 'get rid of this *expletive* scrub.'

Love tidbits like this. And I love Wit even more, hearing this.

I get so sick of the "first round grades" aspect of these drafts, just like I hate hearing how this draft is a deep draft, and that one isn't, blah, blah, blah.

Scouts - and especially so-called draft experts - don't know much more than we do, other than they've finagled a job that allows them to do it all day long while we work our jobs and learn all the names and ask around.

Here's a hint, draft-expert dorks.

You gave Ryan Leaf a "first round grade". Same for Heath Shuler, Curtis Enis, Vernon Gholston, Braylon Edwards, and thousands of others that never panned out.

And you DIDN'T give a "first-round grade" to Larry Allen, Jason Witten, Charles Haley, Darren Woodson, Leon Lett, Erik Williams, Daryl Johnston, Jay Novacek....same for Tom Brady, Arian Foster, Priest Holmes, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, and about a million other star players.

Half the first round will bust, and 20-30 players will be taken in rounds 5-7 that will have long, very productive NFL careers. And you 'experts" have no idea which ones will be which.

AMEN!!

interesting.

Fisher got a lot of data straight form Jerry previously.
This has a real chance to be accurate.

I like the list. I note that if 2 QBs get drafted we'll get one of the 16 guys we rate a r1.

Teams may also need to buy into our area to get the top QB. If none of the QBs rate an R1 then they are probably at the top of r2 choices for Buffalo and the Jets. Neither team can likely wait til r2 so they'll need to get into the second half of r1 to insure they get the QB they want.

I also wonder if we'd take Xavier Rhodes and play him at safety.

If we take a CB then we know for certain nobody wanted to trade up with us and he was truly BPA....

It wouldn't bother me one bit cuz I'm hoping we dump O-scan and his salary...

I was sort of kidding at the time, but here is a quote from Jerry:

“If you look at those first three picks, if you could see our draft boards, you could see beginning in the early 20s those first three picks right there within about four of each other,” Jones said. “Those first three on our draft board are right there in that early-twenty area.”

I doubt any team other than the Cowboys had Frederick, Escobar, and Williams all rated in the early 20's. I'm not unhappy with any of the players, I just don't think as highly of them as Jerry does (obviously or he wouldn't have picked them where he did).

So because nobody is ever correct 100% of the time, should anybody even try? Or should the Cowboys front office just pull names out of a hat, because apparently they have know "just as much as we do"?
