Its amazing the Bengals are the team that the Garrett Apologists point to when they plea for patience with Garrett.

lol.... THAT is a scary thought

The bottom line is that JJ and the Front Office bet on Romo and Garrett to win the SB, and all of their decisions have reinforced that. JG will NOT be fired this offseason, as that would entail JJ admitting that he made a big mistake.

Could be it. JJ's pride trumps everything....

Announcing any sort of coaching change with 5 games... just isn't going to happen.

I'm ambivalent towards Garrett.

I can come up with several reasons why he should go and several on why he should stay.

My feeling is that he's going to be back but as others have stated there will be a change-over of some on the staff.

Is is mandatory that you have to tweet something every certain time? I mean what is that supposed to mean?
Even if they are planning to let some go, are they going to let outside world know?

I don't think that the question is, will he be back (hard to imagine him getting the boot), but should he be back - would a similar performance record be tolerated by other franchises.

They have a stenographer at all team meetings so that Fisher is kept up to speed.

If you paid the easy monthly payment you would have known that already. This is a freebie.

Oh probably not.

But I think between the injuries to Dez/Romo, the total fail at keeping Weeden as the backup (which I don't blame Garret for) I think Garrett gets a pass... on top of that the mind-numbing inability of the defense to get turnovers... those 3 things doomed the season.

Good point

It'd be no different than a bad coach using a player you know is obviously playing out of position.

That player sucks!

Well, maybe he does...but I have no way to know until he's put in a position to succeed.

In Dallas, coaches are not put in a position to succeed. So I can't evaluate them.

There's no way to know until he's in that position. Swapping Garrett for another coach doesn't address the problem unless with it comes changes at the top.

Depends on the coach; Jimmy did well enough during his years in Dallas. But, I hear you....

I feel like we talk in circles in this board.

There's a ginormous difference in Jerry then and Jerry now.

I expect we will have JG next year and the next year, and . . . . . . . . . . . .

He's got 4 more years left on his contract.

Yep... JJ is his own worst enemy.

And swapping Garrett's offensive system out now only hurts Romo and pretty much shuts the window on any hope for contending with him at QB. Just can't see JJ waving the white flag like that. I could see come changes at the assistant coach level, and some more aggressive moves from JJ in the draft and free agency-- but cleaning house would be conceding defeat.

In that case you or me could coach and it wouldnt make any real difference, because the real needed change aint happening just yet.
