In that case you or me could coach and it wouldnt make any real difference, because the real needed change aint happening just yet.

Exactly.

So either suffer or find a new team. For me, being a fan of the Dallas Cowboys isn't a decision. It's who I am. I literally hate the other 31 teams. So I must suffer.

To be fair though, running a football team is fun.

If the D continues to not get TOs , I can see someone getting the axe...it won't be Rod though.

Yep... JJ is his own worst enemy.

And swapping Garrett's offensive system out now only hurts Romo and pretty much shuts the window on any hope for contending with him at QB. Just can't see JJ waving the white flag like that. I could see come changes at the assistant coach level, and some more aggressive moves from JJ in the draft and free agency-- but cleaning house would be conceding defeat.

There's so much to this conversation. It'd be nice to have a head coach who actually controls his own locker room. Who heads his own staff meetings. Who has picked his own staff that he's meeting with. Controls his own roster. Who is the voice of the team.

It'd also be nice for our head coach to have a properly run scouting department with a GM and VP of Personnel that have an actual vision and expertise in their field.

Our head coach has none of that. And fans say he sucks. I say who wouldn't?

I agree. He's handcuffed by a bad GM who thrives in living in denial.

Right. Its too late in the game to root for any other teams. My joy as a football fan is relishing the misery of Eagles and Skins fans. Pathetic as it is its the state of things as they are.

I don't see how a Cowboy fan could be ok with Red coaching the Cowboys. They need someone the players will fear a little and they do not fear Garrett. After watching him and his team since he was coach, he is a nice guy but a below average coach. But he is a puppet and maybe that is all we are going to get with JJ. It is very frustrating, the offense is so bland. It is no wonder our OL is not as good as last year, all the opponents know our plays, we are the most boring, predictable team in the NFL. Watch the Cardinals play and then watch our Cowboys play- like night and day, the effort, the coaching, the confidence. I see none of this with our Cowboys.

I think it's pre-destined as of now that someone(s) will be fired on the coaching staff. I think Rod is a 40/60. I think the decision Hardy could be intertwined with that. But even if Rod stays, at least one defensive coach will be given the boot. I think Pollack goes on offense.

If your coaching staff cant win just one dam game without the starting QB..................they suck.

And we are not talking about one season...............since named the head coach, Garrett HAS NEVER WON A GAME ROMO DIDNT START!!!

We are talking half a decade here.

Sean Payton hasnt won a game that Brees didnt start.

I know there is more to it than this...but...Before the season started we knew if we lost Romo we were done. So that happened and now we are losing and we blame the coaches for that? We do have some that need to go but not major changes.

If we lost him the season.. Not if we lost him a part of the season and needed 1 or 2 games to stay on the race.. If we won 2, Romo could have rested more..

You should extinguish that hope. Only one year left to eat on Wade's deal, not four years and as much as 24 million.

Jerry must have been drugged by Jim Garrett when he made that decision..

They must have pictures of Jerry in compromising positions..

It'd be no different than a bad coach using a player you know is obviously playing out of position.

That player sucks!

Well, maybe he does...but I have no way to know until he's put in a position to succeed.

In Dallas, coaches are not put in a position to succeed. So I can't evaluate them.

Jerry doesn't set the offensive scheme. Jerry doesn't call the plays. Jerry hasn't blown numerous games through poor game management. Jerry doesn't decide to kick meaningless field goals when down three scores with the season on the line.

I dislike Jerry's constant meddling and stubbornness as much as anybody, but you really don't think we can judge Jason Garrett's abilities as a head coach? Come on dude.

so because the team has heart and fight but keeps loosing thats good enough to keep a coaching staff? REALLY?

This. Yes they fight for JG but it shouldn't be good enough. He's been here since 2010 and his record is just above .500 with one playoff season and one playoff win. It shouldn't be good enough, not for the Dallas Cowboys, we wasted 7 years of an elite QB IMO. Now who knows if/how Romo comes back, I think we are about to get a couple of 5-11 seasons or so, but hey, the players will keep fighting for JG.

Looks to be 2 if you count week 17 when they rested everyone on their way to a championship.

It's pretty much desperation when they got to go there..

That being said, Sean Payton is the one that got Brees anyways, when nobody thought he would be what he was... And he's also the one that got us Romo..

So there is that fact.. What's Garrett going to do when Romo is gone.. Bring in Brad Johnson, Jon Kitna, Weeden, Cassell and play conservative on offense and whine when the defense doesn't get like 40 TOs in one season to give the offense more opportunities?

I don't think the money is that big of an issue.

If he thought another coach would get the team further, are we really going to believe that the man wouldn't pay $24M?

He could afford to pay 5-6X that amount every year and still lead the league in revenue.
