I'm betting that the players start complaining about collusion here sooner than later. People have been saying that this FA class isn't that great but I see quite the contrary. There is a lot of free agent depth out there from Suh on down.

There is also an equally extensive list of offensive players.

Looking down those lists, there is a ton of talent. Even the poorer positions like ILBs are 5 deep.

With a fixed budget I get the impression that more and more teams are operating by slotting positions groups as percentages of said fixed budget while the players want the willy nilly free market approach of the aughts. We saw a trend two years ago where teams aren't paying midgrade talent top dollars. Williams got paid much as a I see Suh getting paid but beyond that I see a lot of Bennet and Avril type deals but for a whole lot of people.

It's either that or the typical rich poor gap that we have seen in the league since free agency started.

I think they are going to have to increase the roster sizes to make up for some of the salary decreases. The rookie wage scale has made them so affordable that teams are cutting vets and relying on young players. The NFLPA thought limiting the huge money going to rookies would send it back to the vets, but except for QBs, LT and CBs the money just isn't there for the mid level vets.

If they expand the game day and active rosters they can also sell the injury angle and build support for adding 2 more games. The cap stayed flat from 2009 to 2013 at 122m, but it has gone up 21m in the last 2 years. They are going to have to spend it somewhere.

They will need to increase the roster size if the idiots in charge decide to extend the regular season to 18 games.

Always loved Fish's opinions. " Back pocket boy " from the old days when haters would jump on anything that would bring bad news about the Cowboys.
