Fisher's option

His contract runs out at the end of this season. The Titans, however, have an option. My understanding is, if they pick it up, he'll have to be one of the highest paid coaches (top 5 I think).

How do options work? If the Titans pick up the option, but Fisher wants out, do the Titans get compensation? Who would decide on the compensation?

I am not sure about the option and how it works, but I think they did exercise the option and I just saw him on PTI saying he will be there next year. The question is for how long, since we all know there have been talks about him coming to Dallas and now that his team is doing better and talks of Parcell sticking around for a year or two more that could be another reason for him to stay there, not saying the only reason but I think it is one of them.

Now that we have the team playing like Parcells has wanted all along--although I would like our defense to be more dominant which Parcells also wants--I want Parcells to stay and get it done. If he retires after we win a SB, that's okay.

Jeff Fisher is a good coach but so is Cowher. Frankly now that Vince Young is beginning to produce I would expect Fisher to remain with the Titans.

I don't think Cowher retains to Pittsburgh after this season and expect him to rest for 1-2 years (could also be a football analyst on some of the shows) and recharge his batteries. He's a great coach but his ownership simply won't pay the money to keep many of their good players around. Every year it seemed like they'd be losing at least 1-2 quality starters & that's tough for any team to replace.

The fact that he has this team winning...sort of should allow him to keep his job if he wants to.

Does Fisher want to coach the Titans and continue working for the evil Bud Adams? That is the question.

Make no bones about it...Fisher hasn't sought out a new deal with ownership. He could care less. The ownership doesn't seem anxious to pony up either.

Fisher knows that he can work anywhere, without the evil Bud Adams.

I think ownership is starting to make the effort to sign him to a longterm extension actually, but as you've said, does Fish want to come back? If not, they may have to pick up his option and give him something like a $3mil raise. Does Fisher have to accept the terms of the optional year or can he walk?

I'm not sure that this is about money. I've heard through several media outlets that Fisher doesn't always get along with Bud Adams.

Fisher knows that he can coach elsewhere, and has a decent resume. He can go to Pittsburgh, or possibly Dallas if the Tuna retires. There will be other vacancies also...I'm not even sure if Joe Gibbs comes back to Washington next year.

If we don't win the SB this year and BP returns next year for one more shot at it, I want Fisher to be made assistant HC w/ the guarantee he'll be HC in 2008.

I think Bill cowher is the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys! I don't think he returns to Pitt after this year and will sit out until Bill P retires eithers after next year or the year after. He would be the best option out there to run the team like a Parcells,, 3-4 D, strong running game, etc...

They would be foolish not to keep this guy. The very fact that they have won more than 3 games this year is unbelievable. They signed Kerry Collins the week of the first game, and he started. Great job keeping the team going in a positive direction.

Money talks, but I don't think he would come to DALLAS.

I really don't hope that Cowher becomes the next HC of the Cowboys. I really do hate him, when a player is disrepectful I understand because they are young and stupid but when I coach is like that it shows the immaturity of the coach. I still remember when he did the Who Dey when they beat the Bengals. As a coach you are supposed to respect the oppenents, and never sink that low.
