I agree with putting Romo at, or near, the top. People nationwide just don't seem to realize that this guy has put up incredible stats, year after year.

Romo might make a top 5 most underrated in NFL history. He's been criminally bashed and hated both nationally and locally for nearly his entire career. If he played for the Giants or Patriots he would be revered by the media. If someone never watched a football game and saw the media coverage, they would think he was one of the worst players in the league.

I cannot remember any athlete in any sport that has gotten more undeserved hate then Tony Romo.

Me either. I've never seen anything quite like it honestly and can't figure out why or how he's thought of the way he is.

River Phillips nor Forte are underrated, they are what they are, its that simple. Thats like saying Matt Ryan is underrated, no hes just not as good as hyped.

Unfortunately, the "If" isn't really necessary... I have heard countless comments from people who don't watch football about how "Tony _omo" is the worst QB in football, and that all he does is fumble and throw the ball to the other team.

I would say that he's much more underappreciated than he is underrated.

When he finally hangs it up, I think people nationally will finally realize and acknowledge how good Tony Romo has been. It would be great if he could get a ring to get his proper due while he's still playing.

Because he plays for a team that is in the same division as (and therefore primary rivals of) 3 other teams who are all from some of the biggest football and media markets in the country (and each of these teams are roughly 100 miles apart). When you have that much concentrated Cowboys hate in an area that has a huge media influence, it's no wonder the Cowboys and Romo are hated so much.
