Five things that'll define Week 3: Tony Romo's success

I was a Romo fan as a QB and I only saw one clip of Romo calling a game that someone recently posted, but I think him calling off what teams are about to do constantly would get on my nerves watching a game. It would be like watching a movie at the theater allwhile someone is giving all upcoming events away aloud throughout. Just wanna be like, let me watch and figure it out for myself.

Like I said, I have to watch a whole game with Romo calling it to be fair. Maybe it isn't like that. just my opinion.

Honestly, I don't think of it like that. When I watched the NE/NO game when he was telling me stuff I was like wow, never noticed that before. He didn't call out what was happening every time but he is very educational at least to me. I learned more about defense in one of his games than I ever had before. I liked it.

Romo will not be coming back to the NFL as a coach... even though he could be a very good offensive coach or eventually even Head Coach.......he will be getting offered so much more money as color analyst that he will stick to that. Look at Gruden. ....also the hours are a lot better and at least he gets vacation time in the offseason. Things like that are not possible if you are a pro coach. He will be highly successful and sought after by the networks. I agree his wife and family want him at home in the offseason and he does too.

Right. Not to mention the long hours coaches have. He has a family, too.

I doubt he's in such dire need for money that it will be the sole determining factor in how he lives out the rest of his life. He's well beyond the threshold for making decisions solely on income. Likely doesn't even spend an amount equal to the interest he accumulates each year.

A smart guy like Tony already has his money invested and safe. He does not have to work at all for the rest of his life.

Salaries are for some like how you think you are doing in the game of life- keeping score. Brees is one of those that just has to take just about every buck he can get. Others realize that while important money is NOT everything.

I do not think Tony will coach- the hours are NUTS and no matter what organization you are in you are one day away from being fired if they want to blame you for something going wrong. That kind of stress is only for those that are obsessed with being coaches.

I think he would be a great OC; but do not ever expect him to become one.

Good for him. He was beat into Prairie Dust for quite a few of his Cowboy Years because the front office couldn't get out of their own way. On top of that the only good coach he ever had was Parcells. Would have been interesting if he had played QB for Sean Payton after Parcells left. Payton is one smart offensive coach and I think the two of them would have had something pretty special if Jerry would have figured out a way to Sean back and just let Wade run the defense.

Romo can pursue whatever path he wants but I have a feeling that when Dallas has an opening for OC, he will be the first one putting his hat in the ring. IMO, he is not done with football in that aspect. He will go into coaching when the perfect opportunity arises

I could see it but it would be a tough call, 10-14hr work days...Who needs it. He's got a young family, the #1 slot at CBS that pays big and plenty of time now for golf which I could see him doing commentary for as well. Tony did pretty well for himself for being an undrafted FA QB for America's team.

I saw a replay last night with Romo's commentary during the game between the Pats and New Orleans. His insight into the various aspects of the game and those involved in it were outstanding. I've heard some positive remarks made lately about him but that was the first time I have been exposed to a lengthy sampling of it. If it was any indication of what to expect from him in future broadcasts, I expect Tony to have a long and successful career in doing so. He was nothing short of excellent. His knowledge and passion for pro football were totally in evidence.

Hard to replicate what Romo is. He's always had a great personality in interviews, is well spoken, knows the game like few do and carries a following with him from being the Cowboys QB for so long. I mean based on here, Reddit and twitter, people are watching the games for the commentator. That's almost never happened.

He doesnt do it constantly.

Romo already using broadcasters jinx. Was talking about Rodgers incredible interception rate at home, then BOOM pick 6. Only his 2nd in his career. Romo sounded pretty giddy after the pick 6. Green Bay losing at home 21-7

People are too fixated on Romo's ability to forecast what is coming next, that's just the icing on the cake. What really makes him brilliant is his play to play breakdown of how the game is unfolding. His strategic analysis is unparalleled. It doesn't hurt that he's so easy to listen to with his great energy and obvious love for the game. He's the complete package.
