Just curious- have any of them been any good in the NFL? Did not realize Grossman was from Florida. Miami- same?

Our backup QB played for FSU.

But saying Florida and Fla. State QBs don't do well in the NFL is true. I watch a ton of ACC football, and I can't put my finger on it. The disparity in talent between the FL teams and most of the rest of the ACC is usually pretty significant, except at QB.

Well, I think it's a matter of the Offense run at FSU. It's really not a Pro offense IMO. For so many years, FSU and Florida have relied heavily on the number of superior athletes at each program. Historically, they have not been what I consider to be very sophisticated offensively. FSU, IMO, is still that way. Florida is changing now that Myers is coaching there but still, I would not call his system a Pro Style offense. Even when those programs did attract highly talented players at the QB position, the development of those players was usually not great. Things may eventually change there but until Bowden leaves FSU, I don't think it will change much.

We'll as a gator fan i can tell you it was spurrier's system that made those QB's. You really don't have to be great QB at these schools, because they surround the QB's with expectional skill position players. The QB can't help but succeed.

I disagree the FSU offense is pretty complicated my high school ran the version that they ran with Charlie Ward at the time. The thing is it is a system that makes a decent QB look good sort of like University of houston and Hawaii's. FSU for so long depended on their superior athletes to beat you. Florida was the same under the Old Ball coach.

Good pt-Danny Weurful was a Heisman winner, FWIW.

And come to think of it, Grossman was BENCHED by Spurrier for a few games-so it says ALOT when you get benched in college.

Miami, on the other hand, had Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar & Vinnie Testaverde over a seven year stretch. Steve Walsh followed Vinnie and managed an 11 year career as an NFL backup. After him, came Craig Erikson who had a seven year NFL career (with one decent year as a starter). So that's a pretty respectable stretch for any college to have with QB's over a decade or so.

Don't forget Ken Dorsey is on the Browns Roster.
