How come nobody has hit it yet in a REAL game?

Did we forget about this HUGE issue? Hey, Clayton wasn't a QB going to run around and intentionally throw a ball against it to get a "do over?"

There's a few posters who have said the board was raised and there have been pictures that make it seem that way. Doesn't look like a lot of raising but with the moving of the Mitsubishi sign and a slight raise, the bottom could be a good deal higher.

IIRC, nobody said the board was going to be getting hit week-in and week-out and Clayton never said that QBs were going to do anything but just that they could.

As far as the scoreboard/video board technicality, I seriously don't know why anyone cares.

Here's a video I took in week 3, before the U2 concert:

Here's a video I took this week:

Although the difference is slight, it does look noticeably higher to me from this past week.

I didn't really take note of it until just now.

If that's at the same seat, and your camera was in the same spot - relatively, it seems to be a small difference from afar - but, something tells me that's a pretty significant difference. That screen is freakin' huge, so the move looks small..

The one thing I do wish they would do with the board is consistently keep the score and possibly down and distance on it on a ticker strip. It just seems almost too blank without those type of things on it.

This is incorrect.

The talk was how basically that if AJ Trapasso could hit it with a punt in one game, then the regular NFL punters would surely hit the videoboard every game and have to try and avoid it. Then these mediots went on to talk about how Jerry made this huge mistake. Of course, they never asked if it met NFL requirements and if the videoboard could be raised. They were just dying to knock the Cowboys and Jerry for being an idiot.

Not only that, when the NFL said that the videoboard could stay put, the mediots, particularly ESPN, claimed that this was a gigantic mistake for the league and how this would embarrass the game. Clayton then stated that a QB *should* try to hit the videoboard if the situation was right, although the situation never made any sense, it was pretty crazy to think that a QB could hit it with ease and if they missed it, then it's a live ball for the defense to possibly pick off.

Yeah, we needed this thread just to once again show and remind how much BS gets spewed by the media and how wrong they can be because they were too lazy to do research and too eager to knock the Cowboys.

They want to be credited when they break a story, then they need to knocked when they strikeout on a story.

It is from the same seat. The only thing I don't remember is if I was standing when I took the earlier video. I know I wasn't for the Witten one.

I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make if I was.

I don't recall anyone saying it would be hit every week. Then again, I didn't read every article about. If ya read one, ya read all of em.

Not only that, broadcast crews have lowered the quality of game coverage by following the ball in the air during punts in Cowboys Stadium as opposed to showing the downfield blocking and running lanes opening up. If I recall correctly, however, Fox this weekend did not do that, the first this season so far.

doesn't matter if you were standing or not when the video was taken, the height angle difference from that view wouldn't make a difference if you were standing or sitting, but in the second video, the board is clearly higher than it was before the U2 concert

I was in section 216 and the last row. When I was sitting I could only see the bottom 15% of the screen and when standing I couldn't see any. This was due to the overhang from the 300 level. I find it hard to believe that the season ticket holders paid their PSL happily knowing they would only get 15% of it.

Anybody here a season ticket holder that has upper rows on the sideline 200 sections? Maybe they could comment..

It was a red herring Jeff Fisher threw out there because his team looked bad.

Similar to Mike Smith. His team was getting whipped, so he was looking for something to take his frustration out on. Or blame.

Didn't NBC do that and basically just zoom way out?

I don't think Fox had any part of it. In fact, the only game Fox has done in Dallas was the ATL game.

I can't remember if ESPN did anything during the Monday night game but I don't think they did.
