In an 1994 NFL preseason game between the Oilers and Cowboys attracted the 112,376 fans, the largest crowd to ever witness and NFL game. People were sitting on the steps watching!
What sucks is that we still lost 6-0! The field was very muddy at Azteca Stadium.
In 2005, the NFL staged its first-ever regular-season game outside the United States as the Arizona Cardinals hosted the San Francisco 49ers in Mexico City. A crowd of 103,467 were at Azteca Stadium -- the largest crowd for a regular-season game in NFL history.

It was also announced today that the Giants would play the Dolphins in london next season too.

The head coach of the semi-pro team I played for (Laredo Red Raiders) used to coach one of those Monterrey teams (it may have even been the Borregos). My coaches (ex coach now as I'm retired) name is Clemente Palafox. We had an exhibition game against one of them a couple of years ago (don't remember which team - Tigres maybe?) and there were a lot of americans on the team, and almost everyone of their players was juiced up on 'Roids. It's expected since they don't have the strict policies of the NCAA and 'Roids are extremely easy to get in Mexico.

They beat us by like 10 points. Most of our team were not our regulars though cuz we played them in our "Offseason" so most of our team didn't show up.

I got ejected from the game cuz some POS from their team tried to twist my helmet (with my head in it) off in a pile after the whistle blew. I got up and punched the guy in the chin (uppercut under the facemask) and got ejected. They ejected a guy from their team too, a guy that wasn't even on the field when the incident happened (refs are incredibly stupid... all of them).

Anyway, needless to say we were shorthanded while they were in full force, and most of their team were a bunch of cheap shot artists.

i would have to agree with the cheap shot artists part, i actually met some of them yesterday and they starting talking crap about how they could beat any college team in the US. :lmao: :lmao2: Yeah thats be on the floor laughing my head off. good thing i didnt spray beer on any of them or a fight would have broken out. anyways i just looked at him and mention the roid part and walked away. they should take Florida to play over here, rip them apart 150 - 0. Now dont get me wrong, my family is mexican so im not trying to be racist or anything. I just hate when talk our of their, well u get the point.

I getcha. Didn't think you were being racist. My nephew had went up there to play ball (forget which school, but their colors are green and gold (or yellow), and the coach gave him the run around, first telling him he'd get a full scholarship and a place to live, then telling him partial scholarship and a possible place to live, then that he'd have a shot at making the team after a few practices, etc... royally screwed him over, and a few other players from my semi-pro team.

I don't think all their guys are on roids - some of the ones I played against were really skinny/weak - but I have no doubt at least 5 - 10 of them are/were. The guy that tried to twist my head off is definitely a roid freak.

Anyway, I'm retired now so it's all good. :D

This guy was a star there, (in MOnterrey) and ended up as an International development player for the Cardinals and is now on their regular roster. The man is huge and is originally from McAllen.

I know of him because I worked with his brother, who is almost as big, but didn't like playing football.

I haven't seen many (if any) Eagles fans since I've been in Monterrey(since last May), but there are a few Raider fans(albeit the closet variety this year) and Steeler fans here. The college team in Monterrey has been the best team down here for a few years now. I was surprised by how many people I've talked to actually have played American football down here. They even have pee wee leagues. My coworkers are even nice enough to refer to World football as "soccer" for me...I just pronounce it differently for them...foooootball and football...LOL
