People forget Brees went 7-9 for 3 straight seasons, while Rodgers has missed the playoffs the last 2 years. These are established HOFers too.

Nobody has stated you don't need a team to make the playoffs. Why is this thread trying to mix individual player performance with team records?

Drew Brees with those "three straight 7-9" seasons was still one of the best QBs in the league.

Dak haters like to ignore the fact his development is right on schedule. He took the NFL by surprise as a rookie and had the typical "sophomore slump" in 2017. In 2018 he started very slow due to a ridiculously weak receiving corps. Once the Cowboys got Amari Cooper Dak was arguably playing the best football of his career the final two months of the season, followed by his first career playoff win.

Too many fans waste time comparing Prescott to players like Brees and Rodgers. He is not and never will be that type of quarterback. But just because his play style is different does not mean the Cowboys cannot win a title with him. Look at the list of QB's that have made it to and won the Super Bowl in years past and you will see vastly different levels of talent and play styles.

Prescott is good enough to be a long term franchise QB. He is not elite, but he is far from a replacement-level player like Case Keenum. Maybe more Cowboys fans need to realize how lucky we are to have him. Tony Romo's body quit on him and Dallas could have suffered through several 2015-like seasons had Dak not turned out to be a fourth round find.

I'm not going to disagree entirely about acvuracy at times but i see it different. It's when he is pressured he doesnt set his feet and throws off of one foot. Over all his accuracy isn't terrible like some say. He actually completes passes at a decent average. Mahomes I'm not going to disagree but i wouldn't want Watson over Dak, not at this point in their careers.

I think he has the ability to be an accurate passer and he has shown that at times. It just hasn't been consistent and I don't think he will ever be that consistently. I watch all of the Cowboys games and only highlights of others. Highlights probably taint my opinion of other players. Mahomes definitely and Watson to a lesser extent seem to release the ball with less effort. I think when he is pressured it goes back to him thinking too much about the pressure and not where the ball needs to be placed for a reception. I'm admittedly a big Romo fan. Dak is never going to be the passer that Romo was but I think he is a winner...he just needs to play his own game.

For Pete's sake, I have a limited edition helmet autographed by Dak sitting in my basement...I hope he becomes the next great Cowboys QB. ;-)

We hate on Wentz because he is one of the most overrated QBs on this board and is soft as wet tissue. Watson hasn't done anything, i think he has a bright future but right now Dak has done more and he has Hopkins.

With Dez he was declining. He struggled beating corners one on one and was the main reason we didn't make the playoffs in 17 with his performance against the Seahawks in a must win game. Cooper hasn't even had a full season with Dak much less an off-season.

Not really sure where you are getting the whole not giving other young QBs any credit. I'm on record saying i would take Mayfield and Trubisky over Dak. Mahomes is a given. QBs like Watson have bright futures but i wouldn't take him over Dak. Goff? Rosen? Darnold? Jimmy G? Seriously, they aren't better than Dak.
Dez was the main reason we lost to the Seahawks?

it's not an easy throw when you panic with pressure.

If Zeke could jump 10 foot high it would have been a good throw.."Zeke is too short" :lmao2:

But Pappy, #1, 2 and 4 didn't even make the playoffs.
Good catch. It's almost like...a QB's yards don't mean nearly as much as his passer rating.

2018
250+ yards passing
W117 L120 T3 (.494)

95+ passer rating
W166 L81 T2 (.672)

Prescott ranked 14th in passer rating during the regular season, and 13th including playoffs -- and 8th after week 3 including playoffs. You could argue that some QB with lower passer ratings on other teams may be able to achieve similar success in Dallas, but the narrative of Dak being one of the league's worst starting QB is outdated.

Haven't people realized by now that his worst year (his 2nd), he had one of the worst receiving units in the NFL? An aging Jason Witten, a washed out Dez Bryant, decent Terrence Williams, Cole Beasley, Brice Butler, and Noah Brown. One of the most weaksauce receiving units I can think of. That list of names has no flash at all.

It shouldn't be any surprise why his sophomore campaign was a failure. The majority of the criticism he gets is for his 2nd year (or that 16 game streak from Atlanta 2017 game 9 through Tennessee 2018 game 8). After the Cooper trade, he starts putting up highlights and has his team back in good looking shape. I'm just really shocked Cowboys fans don't seem to recognize what clearly dragged us down in '17.....
I merely glanced at the tiny avi, on the front page, intro-ing this thread and I was all like @jday !!!!! Screaming like a teen seeing the Beatles invading the U.S..

But alas... I didn't even need to see the OP's identity.
All I needed to see was how short the post was.

This ain't no @jday .

Romo at 38 years old might not have made it but Romo in his mid 20's would not have been a worry. Dak can work on mechanics, timing, and footwork twelve hours a day, seven days a week. He is not going to suddenly become a proficient passer.
Really? So why has Dak led the league 2 out of his first 3 seasons on tight window throws accuracy?

Whaaa? Whaaaat was that you said?

Considering he was coming back from acl surgery and missed the first 4 weeks and then 4 weeks later fractured his vertebrae but continued to play he had a pretty rough year. Didn't really have a chance to gain that same form.
His ACL had nothing to do with the mental mistakes he was making.

I really don't care what Eagles' fans say - Prescott was ranked worse than Wentz.

ESPN QBR had Wentz at 12

http://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr

PFF had him ranked 14

https://www.profootballfocus.com/nfl/players/carson-wentz/10636

Football Outsiders has him ahead of Prescott in all major categories

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb

But yes, what we should be doing is going by emotionally driven fans (the worst fanbase in football, which you here claim) when it suits you.

And LOL on the "locker room" reports from anonymous sources where multiple players came out in defense of Wentz as well.
Go ask Eagirls fans who actually watch him play and then back what they say up with stats. Otherwise your opinion is invalid. You barely even watch Dak play. Can’t even trust your opinion on him.

That pick you blame Dez for was yet another terrible throw by Dak. After just about every game last season there was an argument on this forum about whether the receiver should have caught the bad pass because he was able to get his hands on the too high, too low or too far behind pass from Dak.

There were two in the Rams playoff game. Wide open receivers who had to to try and make great catches on balls that could have and should have been easy opportunities. Big, difference making plays, schemed by the OC, blocked by the o-line and executed by the receivers. Made far more difficult than they should have been by the inaccurate QB.

Sure, every QB is going to have those once in awhile. Dak has them far too often. Significant factor in the loss to the Rams.
