According to Brad Sham during a Dallascowboys.com interview, Spears was "sick as a dog" all last week and played while extraordinarily ill (speculation being the flu). His performance showed against the Giants, his health is a concern for it has effected his play.

Sham and Spagnola noted that prior to his illness he was playing much better especially in the Thanksgiving game.

So back off chicken littles, he was off, he was sick, he'll rest up and continue to improve.

Tell that to BP since he was the one who was pointing out Spears' poor play.

He did play awful football against NY but he played well against Indy and Tampa.

Parcells was mainly making reference to whether or not he'll be up to playing up to snuff because if he can't there is no reason to start him when he should be resting.

Hmmmmm....why is it that anytime someone is critical of a player's performance, they're slapped with the "hater" label?

I guess Parcells is a Spears hater. :)

It is commentary on the capriousness of fans here that denounce a player without examining the circumstances.

Hey Juke...gotta ask. What do you think of Parcells now? It seems like after years of disappointment, everything he is now doing works.

Yeah but you were not going up aginst 300 pound plus O-lineman either. There is no doubt Spears needs to step it up and we will see if he can or not.

How do you explain the previous 20 games? A severe case of mono? Even by 3-4 standards, Spears has been underwhelming. And drop the "haters" nonsense. The word you're looking for is "critics."

...I've been posting with menopause for the past year. Cut me some slack!

You never show me any affection anymore. The only time you touch me is when you want delicious punk rock. I just feel disconnected from you.

Is it hot in here?????

I've posted my feelings about this a few times.

I've always said that I truly admired the guy from all the time I watched him in NY. At times, like during the Switzer era, I was envious. I've always posted that.

I've also said that the guy I have seen here, is NOT the guy I saw in NY...a sentiment echoed by LTN.

My main gripe was his approach to things..the mindset that by playing mistake free football, with a "bus driver" at QB, he was going to take the team to the superbowl. THEN, he brought in two of the most mistake prone QB's the league has seen...Testaverde and Bledsoe...

I also objected to his reliance on his old players and veterans...see Dedric Ward, Marcellus Wiley, etc.

I lost a LOT of faith when I saw the roster he went to war with in his second season.

At this stage of the game, he has a QB who is the total antithesis of what he said he wanted and that QB, Romo, is winning.

I think the Parcells/Romo relationship is perfect. They counter balance each other perfectly. I am glad to see that Parcells is slapping Romo around a bit but watering down his play making instincts.

Now I'm seeing 5 WR sets...passing on running downs...etc.

As I've also repeated a Parcellsism..."No matter what you've done in the past, sooner or later, you have to prove you can still get the job done."

He's beginning to do that.

Eh...he's been pretty good against the run, but he could certainly step up in pushing the pocket around.

I wasn't aware of any Spears haters. I don't hate Spears. Do you hate Spears? See, nobody hates Spears.
Man, you walk away for a few seconds and all hell breaks loose.

I think it was Parcells who had a player in practice
who literally past out on the field and he told one of the
coaches,when he comes to,tell him he's off the team.We
seem to here conflicting reports on Bill.I saw where,Roy calls
Bill a big teddy bear and just loves him.I can't believe Phil Simms
shares in the love for the man.A matter of fact,i bielieve i read
some where he said he didn't want his son to play for Bill.

Spears has been doing a good job. Im still high on the kid and while he hasnt exactly lived up to my expectations its not like he has reached his full potential yet.
