For the record, and in spite of it, I love the Dallas Cowboys, and they bring me great joy!

I just don’t understand the whole “the season’s over” mentality of fans. 10-5 or 5-10, the season isn’t over until the Cowboys play their final game of the season, whether that’s a playoff game, a game and record that wasn’t good enough, or a game with zero impact on the playoffs.

Do some fans actually tune out when the Cowboys are officially eliminated from playoff contention? Is it win a championship or go fishing? Watch old movies? Start watching your second favorite team?

I’ve been a fan since the 60’s. I’ve seen the Cowboys go 13-3 and 1-15 and everything in between. I’ve seen teams with less talent make the playoffs, and I’ve seen top talented teams crap the bed and be out of the playoff picture the final third of the season. The Cowboys win as underdogs and lose as favorites, and I’ve seen it with every coach the Cowboys have ever had. I watch every game, and I enjoy it. When Jimmy Johnson was the biggest loser in the NFL at 0-8, I relished the lone victory over the Commanders in a 1-15 season. No matter the record, no one could imagine a team with Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman going 1-15. We make excuses for Johnson now because he won two SB’s, but the entire NFL and media were laughing openly at him and Jerry that year; they were even referred to as hillbillies in the media, and there wasn’t a single sign anywhere that they’d ever figure it out. I still enjoyed every game because I love the Cowboys.

We all want to win, and we all have opinions about coaching, players, and the front office, and frankly, those opinions change dramatically year to year based on nothing but the record, but hopefully you still love the Cowboys and enjoy watching your team play, win or lose.

Happy Thanksgiving! The Dallas Cowboys have brought me great joy for the past 51 years, and this season is no exception. I’m thankful the guys wearing the star have been a team I can look forward to every year.

we dont tune out, we are frustrated. I am frustrated because we are losing due to rookie mistakes, not players, coaches. I am upset because we lose games we have no business losing and cant win games we need to win or can win. We have a roster of players we dont use, we still make bad trades, and still not creative.

Does this make us less fans because we are calling out the obvious and want our team to be the traditional winners it used to be? or shall we root for a team wallowing in mediocrity? To me thats more offensive to accept lower standards. and by defending this team thats what some players are saying "hey accept mediocrity" umm no.

Lets also face facts , some fans are ignoing the reality that the Jones boys have let this franchise join others that just make money and as long as they have money, they dont care what the team does. 5-11 is just as lucrative as 13-3 and 1 and done in the playoffs. who cares, we got our money.

Id have more respect for Stephen if he took up the Manziel gesture. The money thing not the "im getting tossed out of the NFL" gesture.

some fans are so bad, they were mad Wade had a good season and was glad to see him go. Install mr 8-8 and they are thrilled. defending their mediocrity coach because as long as hte team isnt competitive all good in their book. and its gotten bad when those fans are calling out the fans who want the team to be competitive opening on a message board. "hey you, HOW DARE YOU WANT THIS TEAM COMPETITIVE" come on man, accept our low standards. again i say no.

now no team can have greats at every position, but when you have a few, try and win for them. we took a few and either fans hated the players, or got mad at other fans when the team wasnt losing. "how can you root for Romo, he wants to win man, find a qb like Carter man, solid qb that doesnt do much.

dont even get me started when posters hype up bad players. the fans slobbering over Bruce Carter, i cant even tell you how many posters told me Dunbar had skills. They saw mediocrity and poured liquid gold over it. So many fans loved them some Tyrone Crawford, Heck i still remember some posters cheering almost there Spencer. I have never seen a fan base so happy when their team cant get a sack. Fans were so proud when McNabb ran around on the defense and still made the compeletion. you would think it was their christmas.

so im sorry if at the beginging of this season i said dont get excited, the whole defense has been revamped, the team isnt going far. and now we see some fans praising that "hey man 8-8 again but whatever thats my cowboys"

When your rivals are saying "under 2 seasons and we got rid of bad contracts, bad players and a bad coach, see you in the playoffs" and your best response is "We ll be there too" and they say "yes but you ll have to buy a ticket" you got problems. 1 season removed from 13-3 and praising losing again, a fan base has issues.

You are more mature than many of the internet kids these days.
So many times posters on message board do the spoiler brat version of holding their breath and stomping their feet...
They cry how they aren’t going to watch anymore...I call BS. Anyone so invested in a team to bother creating an account and posting here isn’t going to turn the cowboys off on Sunday so they can watch Brokeback Mountain for the 19th Time..

I’ll watch every game even if we went 0-16.. maybe not with as much intensity..but I’m watching..

That was the greatest 1-15 season ever. That 1 win knocked the Skins out of the playoffs.
Made me happy that day.

I don't tune out - I just kind of stop caring. I still watch the games, but I don't necessarily look forward to them like if we're having a good season or we're still in real contention. And yeah, if I have something better to do, or the game is a stinker, I'll do something else.

I feel your frustration on many levels. For younger fans, it has to be that much more aggravating as your team hasn’t accomplished much of anything.

Like Chuck54, I’ve been a fan for many years. I’ve seen pretty much everything there is to see.
Us older fans got to experience some amazing things. How about 20 straight winning seasons? That one still blows me away and I was glad to have been along for the ride. Those teams mirrored pretty much what the Patriots are today.

Hang in there. That’s all we can do. The Jones family will own this team for a long, long time. Therein of itself should be all fans main concern and will they ever get it right again.

I love the Cowboys no matter what and haven't missed a game probably since I was a kid! Hell Im making arrangements already for the Xmas eve game around church and family already as I don't want that getting in the way of the Seahawks! Lol

I'm no young pup as well, but I'm tired of this staff. I'm tired of the message and I'm ready for a change. We've all given JG and company plenty of chances, and it's just not good enough. I demand more as a fan!!

Watching the Cowboys on Sunday has been a family tradition for 3 generations and this is especially true at Thanksgiving. There is something inseperably wonderful about family, food and football at Thanksgiving. Our collective sighs, moans and cheers at all things Cowboys was a thing to behold.

Despite my frustration with this season, I will continue to watch the Cowboys and be thankful for our family traditions.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I've been a fan of the Cowboys since the mid-70's. Over the years, there were times that I've walked away from the TV, but when back to watching after about a minute or 2 had past. I can't stop watching no matter how bad things get. This is my team. It's family. No matter how mad I get or disappointed, I watch and hope. My thought is, the players have to play, so it's my job to watch.

I watch every Cowboys game, obviously. I probably won't watch anything at all after their season is over this year.
I don't even know if I'm going to watch the playoffs. I'm about 50/50 on the SB. Haven't missed one since SB XI .
