For the sake of argument let’s assume we let Dak walk

there are more, way more examples of QBs getting worse with age than the exception called Brady. he is the GOAT. Dalton's history has been one of failure when pressure is on and we saw the same thing in dallas. He is fading quickly. he is no Brady. he is not the type of QB that is going to lead you to anything, as his post season record and his record when the games matter is dismal.....Dalton is now a back up or a bridge to your next rookie QB starting.

We'll have to agree to disagree, appears it's between your "sucks" and my "average" ratings...

1) Yes, draft a quarterback.
Some fans need to realize we were very fortunate for Dallas drafting a starting quarterback in 2016 being the last starting quarterback drafted was Quincy Carter back in 2003.

Why would they draft a starting quarterback when they already have one?! Besides, they have much greater needs.

Various reasons, some just don't like Dak. Some think he's not good enough to get this team to wherever they think it needs to be (SB, 10-win seasons, et al), some think the Cowboys can't afford to pay him what he wants, whether or not they think he's "good enough", meaning the team can't get enough defensive players, etc. to bring the defense up, but most just don't think he's worth what he's asking for...

Pure hate, nothing more. Posters here hated Dak from day 1. Starting over golden boy Romo was the fuel.

And how long until he’s developed assuming our Football Idiots draft someone as good as Dak has been.

.

not sure what you mean by football idiots. Cowboys have been pretty solid in the draft lately. Not to mention they did draft Dak to begin with and brought Romo in.

With that said it is hard to find a good QB. It is easy to miss on one no matter what round you draft a QB.

I don't know why people keep talking about letting Dak walk. He can't. Dak has been crippled since October. They had to cut off both his legs below the thigh and he will play from a wheelchair if he ever plays again.

Can we not just tag him, as surely given he's coming off a serious leg injury he would be pleased to sign another $37 million guaranteed over a year, he just received $31 million for playing 4 games, and then trade him to whomever we decide?

Of course we can do that.

But just imagine you were the team, that would be trading for him. Would you really give up 2 first round picks for a guy who acutally does not want to play for you ?

Thats why i think it is important to first mutally (we and Dak) agree to a trade.

Cowboys have been horrid in the draft defensively with several bust and high round injury risk all of which cumulatively have prevented this team from further success with a bottom tier defense besides good drafts offensively.

Then what...

Draft a QB . Do we try and move up in draft and what do we give up assuming anyone takes the bait or do we settle for whatever falls in our slot??

And how long until he’s developed assuming our Football Idiots draft someone as good as Dak has been.

Do we extend Dalton or go after another aged veteran QB to tie us over until we find a draft pick as good as we got lucky with Dak.

How many years do we wait to become relevant and interesting again?

Im not sure everyone has thought this thru.
I think they have thought it through, which is why they are not going to let Dak walk.

That's putting it mildly. And the best one they drafted was Byron Jones and they refused to pay him. Taking flyers on the injury risk guys (Bruce Carter, Sean Lee, Jaylon Smith, LVE ) has been a failure and going after character risks (Randy Gregory) MIGHT finally bear fruit 5 years later but damn. Then there has been the motivation question guys like Trysten Hill and Taco Charlton. We know how Taco turned out but I still hold out hope that Hill might have just been immature and will turn the corner next season. It's just been a cluster-f all the way around no two ways about it. At some point you'd think the front office would learn.

* No,I'd rather not participate or let the #4 walk,,, tho, cost prohibitive logic may deem it to be necessary*:confused:o_O:confused:

well its harder to hit on late draft picks but the higher picks been solid. B Jones - Gregory (when not suspended) - Trevon Diggs - Gallimore looks ok his rookie year - heck Trysten Hill even looked good this season until he got hurt - LVE is solid -

This is BS. This is how people drag down threads and turn them into worthless piles of crap. Do some people hate Dak, probably. Did some people hate Troy, probably. Did some people hate Romo, probably. Did some people hate Roger, definitely. Did some people hate Quincy, definitely. Did some people hate Dandy Don, definitely. But its a outright lie to say that every poster who doesn't agree with signing Dak to a contract that is on par with the highest in the league does it because they hate Dak. That's not true and you know it. However, if that is what you believe, then I hope other posters are smart enough to understand that it's not true.

I don't think Dak can be traded unless he agrees to the trade.

And who is going to pay for the much greater needs? Dak? He is the one that wants more of the money that the team can spend, so unless Dak can pay for some defensive players out of his pocket then he needs to hit the street, or walk the street if he can.

This defense is three years away from being a Superbowl caliber defense. Dak isn't winning one, with these guys, so we might as well let him leave. It'll suck for us fans either way.
