Ok I'll be the first to say it.....he looks fat...

Well...i hope he is finally taking his job seriously. I can't tell anything from this clip, however.

I will never understand how someone works out with that much clothing on indoors.

The fame definitely got to him.......and Jaylon....and LVE.....etc etc
Zeke reminds me of what Brian Bosworth was. A good player who let his status get to his head and has become a mark for to other teams no nonsense players to nail him hard. His off field antics and cocky attitude has gotten the best of him and has distracted him for playing to his potential.

Well first of all he plays with at least that much clothing so it makes sense to workout with similar gear so as to stay comfortable with carrying the ball with sleeves and gloves on.. The "pants" are probably compression tights, designed to keep the muscles warm and suck the moisture out.

4.0 yards per carry. 4.8 yards per target. 6 fumbles. You guys do realize how incredible bad these numbers are right? You are actively helping the other team when you are this productive. The 4.8 yards per target is so bad it almost doesn't seem possible.

the single most ignorant NFL Comp ever..BB was overrated coming in , steroids' and lack of actual NFL talent was his demise..zeke was elite coming in and over 4 years 2 rushing tiles nearly had 3 in a row showed he was still elite as an nfl back..period..nothing went to his head, lts of real factors go into him no longer being 2016 zeke(who from the team are actually better now then that year???13-3?none) but at least he had 3 straight years of dominating in the nfl..2019 still a very solid year..act as if he stopped playing

so what 20202 is now being used to judge EE.. idiotic..haters stench all over this thread as usual

Bosworth??!!

really couldn't find a better comp to try hard and discount zeke..BB never had NFL talent.. BB was more like Ryan Leaf never had it yet was taken because of what he did in college..drafts are full of them and Zekes not even close.what a dumb phreaking statement..

want real comps look real close at Barkley, Fournette, and Gurley..

what have they done with being chosen high and have their teams fall apart in front of them? odd forunette found resurgence on a better team, SB still needs to rove a lot and Gurley disappeared but they all are far better current showing of similar player sat the same positions..how about Bell what happened to him? Johnson got paid now nearly gone in this league..all got paid

at tis point zekes had better careers then all of them..next dumb statement?

I don't think they should have resigned him, but how can people not be a zeke fan
I can only speak for myself but it’s hard for me to be a fan of a player that I feel has wasted potential. I’ll preface this by saying Zeke is a great player, but I feel he should have been much better. IMO, he relied too much on his natural ability early in his career instead of working to become the best player he could be.

Why do I say he wasted potential? Because he was tremendous his rookie year and then became noticeably slower his 2nd season all but losing his big play ability save for a screen pass with blockers out in front. In the All or Nothing series that followed the Cowboys the 2017 season, Zeke seemed to come into the facility looking as if he needed to still sleep off a hard night of partying. During this time the “Zeke is fat” jokes started because, despite the debates, Zeke was slower than he was his rookie year. (link to website that tracked player speed in 2016 and 2017 provided below).

Kobe Bryant once said he wanted to be thought of as a talented overachiever. He worked as though he had no talent at all. If Zeke had anywhere near that level of work ethic, I can only imagine how great the dude could have been. My guess is he would be in the GOAT discussion but instead he is asking for respect to be put on his name.

As mentioned above here is a link to a database of player speed on 2016 and 2017. The NFL allowed the person access to the data for those 2 seasons to run an analysis (unrelated to Zeke) and he provided the raw data. When you look at Zeke’s rookie year you can see he is well above league average but comes back to field in 2017. While Zeke is still great, he was nowhere near what he was his rookie year. We needed that Zeke for more than one season and we didn’t get it.

Couple that with the fact when it was pretty apparent his speed had declined, you had the Zeke fanboys who had to be his white knight and argue about it constantly which didn’t do Zeke any favors.

Eh.

I couldn't do it.

Wear's a half-shirt while playing... wear winter clothes working out indoors. I don't get it.

I think you're being unfair when characterizing Zeke's facial appearance in 2017. The dude was the subject of a Goodell witch hunt which had his eligibility to play up in the air for months. Maybe he WAS up late drinking but more likely he was tossing and turning over his fate being in the hands of a guy who seemed hellbent on suspending him ..
I reject the notion that he doesn't work hard at his craft. With his build I guarantee you that if he didn't work his arse off he'd balloon up to 250 sloppy pounds. He's clearly an endomorph.. yet he is able to show off his six pack during warmups.. That requires work.. and a lot of it. Maybe he IS slower now than he was as a rook.. I don't know.. What I do know is that in 2020 he was fighting a variety of leg injuries and the one thing you don't dare do when you have leg injuries is hit top gear. Because in doing so you risk being shut down for months if you turn a tweaked muscle into a tear. I don't see why that's so hard for folks to accept and understand. What remains to be seen is whether those injuries are part of a trend or just a momentary blip. My guess is that if the line is back up to form he will take fewer hits behind the line and his body will hold up a lot better. If he limps through another season like this last one it will be time to figure out how to move on from him. Period.

Looks like he’s in best shape since his rookie year to me
Now he just needs some stickum for his hands lol

I'm rooting for old boy. Hope he comes out on fire and it can't be put out.
Crush it big fella.
How do fans dislike Zeke. Beyond me. If they finally follow thru with splitting carries with Pollard more.. Zeke is going to lead the league.

I agree. We will never know how the virus affected him. I think more than we know. He overcame it but I think he got hurt about mid-season. It was a different guy then.

hasn' t this video been previously posted at some time awhile back ?

Agility drills. that's a good start.

The Biggest key is regaining Zeke's agility and explosiveness - reshaping his body to more speed and splash plays.
Hopefully we have top notch conditioning trainers that see-identified the issues and knows how to best address that with him.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboy trainers have added track n field specialists too.
It takes two with this plan and commitment though, and i'm sure Elliott is doing his part and work in it.
I want to see the return to form days where he's high hurdling defenders and breaking away the 20's and 40+ yard runs and screen-passes.

What will Elliott lead the league in if he is splitting carries? Henry more than doubled Elliott’s production last year.

I have always advocated for this.. Especially during that 2-3 year period when the Cowboys led the league in pulled hamstrings. To me that was a red flag that they were doing something wrong with regard to their speed training. Track and field training also helps guys maximize their top end speed. Fast football players are naturally fast.. but a lot of them do not handle the transition from accelerating to maintaining top speed. The end result is that you frequently see guys run out of gas on a 40-50 yard run.. I mean how the hell do you run out of gas in under 50 yards? Answer.. by running tight.. When done properly you transition from blasting out energy to gain speed to striding long to allow the body to maintain that speed. I will go to my grave believing that if Emmitt had gotten some good track and field training he could have taken many more of his runs to the house.. I don't think he would necessarily have scored many more TDs or run for that many more yards because let's face it whether it took 2 carries or 8 carries he eventually put the ball in the end zone. I just think he would have delivered more of the long variety if he didn't seize up after 25-30 yards..

100%

He's a guy that didn't handle the early success well in the Cowboys country club environment. He would have been better off being drafted by the Bills or Titans.
Unless there is something I wasn't aware of, Elliott has avoided questionable behavior (other than his "low-key faded" moment last summer) for awhile now.
IIRC, the last incident was nearly two years ago at the Electronic Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas (latter part of May 2021).

Yeah he does look more slender than I'm used to seeing him. Especially in the lower body. That kinda worries me.. Skinny legs and the RB position don't mix. Ask Darren McFadden.. he of the cheerleader sized calves. Even though most power comes from the quads and hammies the lower leg is where the drive and tackle breaking ability comes from. To say nothing of how much more susceptible to injury skinny legs are. Again.. see Darren McFadden.

The weight loss may increase his speed.
