...check some of these numbers out. Inside the perenthesis is the NFL rank.

Scoring Avg. - 27.8 (3)
Opp. Scoring Avg. - 19.3 (9)
Total Off. - 373.9 (6)
Rushing Off. - 135.7 (5)
Passing Off. - 238.2 (9)
Total Def. - 280.3 (3)
Rushing Def. - 85.4 (4)
Passing Def. - 194.9 (9)

I'd say we're sitting on a pretty good little team here, guys. Don't let the naysayers get you down. Even though the W/L isn't what any of us would really like it to be, this game will be close.

My God. You look at those numbers and then our record and just want to cry.

Add the Penalty yards/rank to that. I wanna see how it compares.:(

Those stats are good and well more than decent. We need to avoid penalties, and well have lady luck on our side. Our record would be much much better. At least up by 2 games.

I am very much looking forward to this sundays game! It will be a very entertaining game for sure!

Aren't we like #1 or #2 in penalties AND yards?

Penalties, Bledsoe and poor free safety play explain the 4 losses. Shame really.......

Maybe not penalties, not sure, but penalty yards, we have to be #1 or 2 for sure.

Statistcally, 3rd down %, Red Zone, Yardage, Points, we are a great team.

But we're 5-4. Til we fix the idiocy, we'll remain 8-8, 9-7 ish. We get it together, we can be real dangerous come January....if we get there.

Just think if we'd blocked for ONE routine field goal. We'd have won twice as many as we've lost, and be at 6-3.

Oh well... Maybe we can make it up this weekend.

We rank first in penalty yards. The Cowboys are in the worst division for penalties. NFL Rankings for penalty yards: #1 - Dallas, #2 - Washington, #3 - Philadelphia, #5 - N.Y. Giants. :banghead:

Pass Off. ---------- Cowboys 238.2 (9) Colts 272.6 (2)
Total Def. --------- Cowboys 280.3 (3) Colts 317.7 (16)
Rush Def. ---------- Cowboys 85.4 (4) Colts 159.3 (32)
Pass Def. ---------- Cowboys 194.9 (9) Colts 158.3 (2)

The Colts' #2 ranking in pass defense is greatly skewed by the fact that teams don't try to pass on them, opting instead to run against their 32nd ranked rush D.

Here are two reasons one team is 5-4, and the other is 9-0:
Turnover Margin vs. Winning Teams
Cowboys -5
Colts +10

League Ranking Most Penalties
Cowboys 1st
Colts 26th

Nice stats but you left out 2 critical ones turnovers and penalties both have killed this team in their losses.

DALLAS is +4 in turnover margin not -5. 19 take aways (10 ints 9 fumble recoveries) and 15 turnovers (12 ints 3 fumbles). Of coarse most of the turnovers came in the losses. Most of the giveaways are on Bledsoe, so hopefully that wont be a repeating pattern this week.

People keep saying this, but it's not true to say that teams do not throw against them. The Colts have faced 237 passing attempts. Thats an avg of 26 a game. The Cowboys have faced 284 for an avg of 31 a game. There is only a 5 attempt avg difference. It's not like they are only facing 12-15 passing attempts a game. They are defending 55% rushing and 45% passing. That is a 10% difference, but it's not overwhelming. It's almost the exact opposite of what Dallas faces. Dallas defends 56% (avg 31 attempts) passing and 44% (avg 24 attempts) rushing. Maybe this is why Dallas is #4 against the rush...
