I just went through the roster and heres an interesting breakdown.

Players with 10+ yrs exp 10

Players with 5-9 yrs exp 11

Players with 1-4 yrs exp 61

If anything we may be on the young side I for one think we have a nice breakdown of players with exp and youth. but thats just my opinion.

I don't think we're that old etiher, but it would be more realistic to look at the age of the guys who are going to contribute most. First teamers count for a lot more than say third teamers.

On a first week camp roster, you expect a CBZ40 convention?

They don't take the AARP to camp as fodder.

New England is one of the oldest teams in the NFL and if memory serves me, they have done fairly well the past few years.

OK hows this starters this was just a little harder because you don't know who the starters will be. Btw didn't count Glover as a starter....

5 have 10+

7 have 5-9

the rest have less than 5

Nice point for overall breakdown.....give us the break down with only the starters. We're a little old at the skill positions. We're ok for the next year or so though.

That's more comforting. :)

And even more comforting would be some acknowledgment (not by you jk, but by the mediots who insist the team is too old to win) of what solid older players, starters or depth, bring to the table.

age is overblown.

u dont want 35 year old Cbs or Rbs but OL are fine.
So is a 30+ QB.

Arguably the 2 best offensive players are puppies: Witten and Julius.
On defense we have 3 kids drafted in the first 2 rounds all expected to start or majorly contribute.

I am more concerned with the kids not upholding their end of the bargain then I am about us being too old.

Its very possible FB, RT, FS all get manned by 2nd year guys.
The LB corps after Singleton and Dat can barely buy alcohol.

I think I like those numbers. Unfortunately - most of those 5 are offensive players.

I'll be honest - I know defense wins the game, etc. I really, really hope that this team improves defensively, because we have been neglecting our offense as far as draft talent is concerned for years. I've said it many times - since 1991, we have drafted only 2 offensive players in the first round. Wow.

In my humble opinion, our offense has been held together by duct tape and paper clips for nearly a decade now.

The only place I'm concerned about age is at our starting WR position. Glenn and Key are not pups and Glenn has never been the most durable guy, even in his youth. Since we lack established depth there that's a concern IMO. Of course once Crayton lights up the preseason and wins the third WR job I'll feel better about that.

I don't know, but is it sad that although what you say is true, we may STILL be old at the position? Whew.

I did this breakdown a while back when Goose and Brandt were saying how old we are.

Parcells talks of starters in terms of base nickel and dime packages, so it's not just 22 players, plus K, P, and LS.

Parcells extended starters:

Offense: 15

30 or over: Allen, Bledsoe, Rivera, Johnson, Glenn, Adams

Under 30: Campbell (29), Jones, Witten, Morgan, Johnson, Peterman/Tucker/Vollers/Rogers, Barber, Thomas, Barnes/Polite.

6 are 30 or older.

9 under 30.

Defense: 16

30 or over: Glenn, Ferguson, Glover, Ellis, Nguyen, Singleton?, Reese?

Under 30: Williams, Newman, Henry, Spears, Ware, Burnett, Shanle/James, Canty/Carson/Ratliff/Coleman, Davis/Scott/Beriault, Hunter/Frazier/Reeves/Jones/Thornton, Fowler/Thornton.

5 to 7 30 or older, split the difference with 6.

9 to 11 under 30, split the difference with 10.

Special teams: 6

LS Robinson over.

P McBriar under.

K Cundiff under.

PR ? under.

KR? under.

KR? under.

37 "starters" with 13 at 30 or over, 24 are under 30 and most of those are well under.
