Don't eat the cheese.
Romo undoubtedly played well. He even impressed me, a guy who thought he was a long shot to succeed in this league. However, there are some of you that have taken off running with this a little too far. He did it against a Seattle team that played without a lot of their starters and against a vanilla defense. Credit is due however, he can only play against who they put on the field and you couldn't ask for more out of him last night. I was impressed but am keeping things in perspective.
It's also funny how some of you guys who were "in support of both QB's" are starting to crap on Henson when he didn't even get to play a snap last night ( cough CrazyCowboy cough.) I actually expected that out of most of you so no big deal.
I think we have a good problem for the future, two starting caliber QB's in the wings with a lot of potential. Romo is probably further along than Henson at this point, but I really think we have something in both of these guys.
Now for the rest of the game...
I think Hurd will come around as a solid receiver, those drops were more a product of rookie jitters than anything else. I mean think about it, you have never played an NFL snap and you are thrown into the lineup as a starter. I wouldn't put too much stock in those drops at this point-- once he gets some experience under his belt I think he will come on strong. The guy has great size and good football speed. How great would it be if we hit on him and don't have to use a pick on a WR?
Our OL still can't open up any holes in the running game. Julius showed good burst but really had nowhere to go with the ball. It was the same problem with Marion, no holes.
Greg Ellis at LB? A success so far. I think it also gave him some much needed confidence. I love the idea of him and Ware on the edges.
We gave up 0 sacks... Is that a product of a mobile QB, our re-tooled O-Line or their defensive personnel/schemes? My guess is probably a little of all three.
Now on to what I thought was the biggest suprise of the night (besides Romo.) Our pressure on the QB. This defense is going to be dangerous... If we can get pressure on the QB we will cause a ton of turnovers, especially with our secondary. The more I see of this defense, the more excited I get. If our defense remains healthy they will be a force to be reckoned with in this league. It's time to get excited guys.
