Forget About Culpepper To Cowboys, Wants To Be Starter..

For those who want Culpepper, including myself, well, forget about it. John Clayton of ESPN is reporting that the Steelers signed Leftwich instead of Culpepper was not because of his performance, Culpepper was impressive according to reports in Pittsburg but it was because he still thinks and wants to be a starter.

I guess we can scratch him off the want list. It maybe Chris Simms or maybe nothing. I don't know.

He will soon learn that he isn't a starter anymore and will cave to get a job somewhere. I'm surprised the Bears don't take him in though.

Concussions??? Your right, the Bears make sense. Baltimore could use the help as well as Detriot, to name a few. But.... As long as Culpepper wants and thinks he wants to be the starter, the longer he will be sitting at home.

Culpepper's fall from grace was so sudden that the reality of it just hasn't caught up with him yet. If he wants a job in the NFL again he'd better wise up take whatever backup job gets offered to him.

He should take a look at Jim Plunkett who went down hill fast due to injuries suffered on crappy teams. He sat on the bench for 2 or 3 years until teh starter (Dan Pastorini) went down with a broken leg and then Plunkett started and kept the job. He went on to be a Superbowl MVP.

When an NFL player falls as far and as hard as Culpepper they have to take what they can get or get out of the game.

If Culpepper doesn't watch himself he will end up in the Arena league.

Even if he wants to be a starter, he would need to be in camp now. I dont know what hes thinking.

So sign him, and make Romo the backup... he would instantly become the best backup QB in the league, by far...

Why did he even bother working out for the Steelers, if he expects to be a starter?? Did he think they'd put Big Ben on the bench??

Yeah, that'll happen...

In 2007 he passed for 3 TDs and fumbled 9 times and only started 6 games. If I were him I would be thankful for a backup chance. He is not going to start in NE where Randy Moss is now and Chris Carter has retired. Without those two he is JAG IMO

Culpooper's fate was sealed when he took his first snap in minny without Moss. He immediately looked like he never knew how to play quarterback. The sudden transformation was unreal. He was considered an elite quarterback in the nfl with moss.

why would anyone want culpepper. There is a reason he is not signed.

He should want to be a starter. Whether he actually can be is irrelevant. I have always liked the guy, but Jerry and Co. have no interest in bringing him here. So regardless of what he wants, it does not affect the Cowboys one iota.

I never wanted him and the fact that he's delusional enough to believe that anyone other than a bottom feeder is going to sign him to be a starter is really pathetic.

I know the guy has confidence, I know he can't believe his fall has happened so suddenly, but really it's time to face reality DC. You're not a starter in this league anymore.

This could very well be the reason he's gotten few looks, despite the name.

It seems like Culpepper still doesn't 'get it'.

When he suffered his injury in Minnesota, all he wanted to talk to the new braintrust about was his contract. And that got him a one-way ticket out of town.

Getting released by Miami should have been a huge wake-up call, but apparently it wasn't.

And then having the woeful Raiders bid farewell should show him that his reputation has reached an all-time low and is in need of serious repair.

Culpepper represents himself as agent, so he's not getting the advice he otherwise would be.

He's flushing away what career years he has left.

What he needs to do is swallow his pride and sign with a talented team as a backup and go from there.

If he comes in and does a good job, he could find a home and possibly win a championship.

And if the starter were to get injured, Culpepper could step into a good situation and show what he's got.

But sitting at home in August waiting for starting job to fall into his lap isn't the way to handle his business.
