I guess you predicted the 4 and 12 Cowboys were going to win at least 13 games this year. What a genius.

No but I could have told you 90% of the playoff teams would be contenders because of their history.

Are we seriously having a debate about this? You honestly go into every year having no opinion on any team because it's a new season? Cmon. I have to be misunderstanding you.

If you don't get into the Super Bowl with a defacto 14-2 season and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, when are you ever going to get in? There is no house money in the NFL, injuries, coaching changes, and opponent schedules will all be different next year, the time to win is now.

There is no next year in the NFL. So many times teams have thought they had many more chances to win and just never did. 1998 Vikings come to mind. Randy Moss was a rookie then and they had a 15-1 season. Packers after they won it all in 2010 looked to be a dominant force for the next near decade and never got back.

You have to capitalize this year. You never know what the future holds.
Yeah, this seems like nothing more than expectations management. This is our best chance to win, by definition.

Future is bright but it can turn on you quick in the NFL.

That's why when the opportunity presents itself you have to take advantage of it.

We need to get the title NOW.
Exactly.... We win this year then I'm more confident then ever we win 2 or 3 more over a 5 year span.

If we lose it's like any other year. Super Bowl or bust.

So a 13-3 season is a bust or not making it to the any title game is a bust?
It'll give you its a big disappointment as good as we have played.
No way this season is a bust,it's been magic.
It's a bust but at the same time we know we have a bright future and we all know we have a special team. Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL, anything can happen. Lets win now.

My debate is only about all of your negativity. But, I guess everyone is allowed their opinions. So, God bless and happy new year my friend. I respect your opinions and join you in your support of our Cowboys. Salud!

You can see that Cam was never a good passer and Peyton was done. Dak is already better passer than Cam and isn't 40, and is locked up cheap. The Oline is young, excellent, and cheap. Neither team had Elliott, much less locked up for years on the cheap. The Bronco D is aging and the Panther secondary was gutted. So again, not comparable. Could the team get absolutely obliterated by injuries? Sure. But it generally doesn't happen and isn't the reason for the fall of any non-playoff team in 2016 that was a playoff team in 2015.

Yeah and how about the Arizona Cardinals smart guy. They had every piece from last year and still stunk it up.

I can go back and find countless examples of teams who had great seasons only to find themselves in the middle of the pack the following year.

Oh so it's now negativity to say that the Cowboys have to win now because nothing in the future is guaranteed?

Call me Nancy then.

Because Arizona's 36 year old QB pooped the bed most of the season.

Usually a team falls off because of 1) drop in QB play, 2) they got purged of talent in the offseason, 3) injuries

The teams that are decently well ran, and cover most of those first 2 for the most part are usually predictable. Even excluding the Pats because of that walk over division, you have the Seahawks, Packers, Steelers, Ravens, who are usually in and a threat. There's always at least one of them playing in their Conference championship and most are usually a threat.

Yeah, parity in the NFL is crazy, but not many teams have the talent on offense and OL like we do that are going to be good for a long time. The biggest thing to worry about is Dak suddenly playing like Osweiler or major injuries.

Your statement was this is the best chance we've had since 1995. I disagree with that. I don't even think it's the 2nd best chance we've had since 1995 and that boils down to starting a rookie QB.

If they do it it'll be historic. It'll be historic because it's never been done before. It's never been done before because a rookie QB has always gotten you beat.

Where am I losing you?

The competition was better in 2007 and the team was worse in all other playoff years than the current team. Additionally, Romo didn't even have a whole season of starts over Dak in 2007, so the "veteran" edge is only barely there.

Romo was a 4 year vet by 2007. Much further along than what Prescott is now in terms of pro experience.

The competition being better is something you made up. Not true at all.

And yet Dak has been better in year one than Romo in year three. Romo received limited snaps over those years and if the Cowboys roster wasn't so putrid during that time frame, there were multiple occasions where he would have been cut. Serving all of those years up as cases for Romo's "veteran superiority" in 2007 is ridiculous.

If we are talking about winning the Super Bowl, you also have to look at the AFC contenders. If you are claiming that any of the current AFC playoff teams are better than the 2007 Patriots, the DEA may be interested in you.

You're still on this it doesn't matter he's a rookie nonsense?

Romo went through 4 seasons. 4 camps, 4 preseasons and had a few starts to boot. Comparing a true rookie to him in terms of experience is desperation at it's finest. Any rational fan of the NFL would agree. Next year you will see even Rayne Prescott himself talking about being further along in his 2nd and 3rd year. It's the natural progression any player faces.

You mean the same Patriots team that lost to the wild card Giants?

The correct answer to your question was no.

I wouldn't be interested in Rayne learning anything. I'd be trying to win the playoff game.

How could you not put in the better QB in a playoff game if you feel that's the situation? Next year isn't guaranteed. You're there now. Win.

That's a good analysis. I'm skeptical that our coaches would make the switch, I though playing Romo in the Giants game was warranted.

I'm done with this since you keep accusing me of saying the exact opposite of what I have already specifically stated.

Here's what you specifically said....

Does this team have as good or better a chance at it as any since '95? Yes.

To believe that you have to believe the Cowboys accomplishing a first in league history is the best chance they've had to win in over 20 years. That is just wrong. They were better equipped in 14 and 07 because the QB wasn't a first year rookie.
