Former CB, Jourdan Lewis, forever a Dallas Cowboy

Just for laughs...

Trevon Diggs goes to Green Bay to play in only 1 play which he gets trucked over in?

They are paying him all of that money just for this?

:lmao:

What the heck kind of defensive alignment is GB using there? 3 guys wide and only 2 guys over there, one off the ball?

They were giving them an easy play.

Was Eberflus consulting?

Lewis is a better cover corner than either of those 2, and it's not close.

Just yet another case of Jerry being wowed by the flash.
Lewis is an inside corner, so not exactly a fair comp. He wouldn't have looked very good at all if you played him outside with this defense.

The idea of Lewis coming back would make for an interesting dynamic with George Pickens.

Remember in 2024 when Lewis left the field in Pittsburgh saying "Steelers need a new receiver! Pickens is weak!"

At the time, he was arguably a top 5 db. I can't get too mad at them for signing him. Nobody saw this coming. I mean who would have thought he was gonna fall off the cliff in a nano second? I think he chose to quit btw. In this game, this business, any business for that matter, if you don't like what you do for a living, your eventually gonna get burnt out, exposed, then lose your groove. That's Trevon, he grew disinterested in his job. Hes playing not to get hurt. It's in his head. He will get cut and nobody will sign him. We witnessed his last play in the NFL this weekend. What a damn shame.
He blew an ACL, then he tried to come back from the ACL tear at the start of next season and messed up his knee further. I don't know if he's done, but for corners, their legs are a major part of the game. If they don't have them anymore, they have to be very technically proficient. I don't think that is who Diggs is as a player.

I don't think it's fair to say he grew disinterested in his job. He was legitimately hurt after signing his big deal and simply has not been the same since. And he may never be.

He certainly clouded the situation with questionable choices.

No doubt that he contributed to his own demise here. But the ACL tear wasn't his fault, and it seems like some hold it against him like it was something he chose to do.

Speaking only for myself, I'm not holding his on field injuries against him. Just his off field crap. It's one thing to be bad at your job, it's another to let your home life affect your job. The TV hanging thing is a farce. Prime example of his immature behavior. His con job. Nobody believes him. Why should they? The deez nuts ordeal is another thing that showed his arse. Showed how childish he is

Jerry wasn't going to let a pesky new contract for Lewis get in the way of getting his value out of Diggs. How'd that stubborness work out for you, Jerry?

I try not to pay much attention to the off-field stuff. I think some of it gets blown out of proportion. It's only the on-field stuff that matters to me. In that regard, for a variety of reasons, we have not gotten out of him what the team invested in him and it was time to part ways. I think at the time that the team paid him, he was playing at a level deserving of his pay level. Some may not think so because of the tackling debacle against San Fran, but he was considered one of the top cover corners in the league at that point. It went downhill quickly after the injury. Sad to see, but what's done is done.

Hope he's not another broke athlete story we hear about on TV in 2 or 3 years.

The problem is the Cowboys mostly focus on stars. Sometimes it's better to pay 2 lewis's and 1 top guy instead of 2 "stars". Especially if those star players haven't shown the same elite ability in multiple years in a row before you pay them.

That's okay, none of our other corners looked very good at all when they played outside with this defense either.

yeah it is pure gaslighting to make out that people here were against the signing other than a typical naysayer type who will be against any signing so that they can later say, see see I was right

I replied in the x and might as well here... Better tackle than he ever made for Dallas. :D

Jourdan Lewis would probably be our best DB. Jerry should have never let him go.

Contracts comparisons:

  • Jourdan Lewis (from Jaguars): 3 years / $30 million = $10 million/year
  • Trevon Diggs: 5 years / $97 million = $19.4 million/year
  • DaRon Bland: $4 years / $92 million = $23 million/year
This is why this team fails badly to even reach another conference championship game since 1995 because Jerry and Stephen Jones are IDIOTS!!! They throw away so much of our Cowboys salary cap on players who hardly ever come close to living up to bring overpayed so much, yet they cut the better player who is forced to sign elsewhere for way much cheaper than the stupid Cowboys ownership overpaid for the lesser players they chose to keep.

Absolutely frustrating.

Could have kept CB Jourdan Lewis for only $10 million/year, compared to $20 million+ / year on the waaaay overpaid lesser contributing blowhards.
i love lewis, and he may have wound up our best cb, but they were definitely not lesser contributing.
