Four days in to TC - DCF's Trade Proposal!

.Trades like this hardly ever happen

I'm not sure how good Samuel is....probably not as good as what he's asking for.

I'm hoping we can get a solid year from Henry. I really hope that Thomas can improve. But how often do CBs develop? Usually, they can either play..or they can't.

They do in my Madden Dynasty's

It's been one season for Carpenter. Hardly enough reason to trade him at this point. He is cheap now and if he shines this year or next, he will sign probably for less than market value to be a Cowboy.

You gotta give draft picks 3-4 seasons before you give up on them, unless they are totally useless on the field. That isn't the case thus far with Carpenter. I do think he is an average player at best, but only time will tell.

What do the Commanders now about having draft picks? Just kidding.

But yeah I agree with you. I think it's hard to give up on Carpenter after one season.

However, if it looks like Brady James actually is going to establish himself as the starter once again, then MAYBE the trade wouldn't be such a bad idea.
But that is assuming that Burnett can stay healthy and become a player for us.

I agree. And Wade Phillips agrees. Which is why he's playing ILB rather than OLB.

I have no idea what you're talking about here. Adding 15 players a year? What on earth are you talking about?

Yet Carpenter has been doing the pass rushing drills with the OUTSIDE LBs (he's the only ILB doing it) in TC and it's also common knowledge that Wade blitzes his ILBs.

Nope, Wade doesn't think Carp can rush the passer.

Oh, forgot one, Carp has also been lining up as a DE on our nickel D (2nd team). Wade must really think he sucks at rushing the passer.

I gotta agree with Rack. This feels like right before the '06 draft all over again...

Carpenter was used as a DE in dime situations (maybe nickle too, I can't remember) at Ohio State. He can rush the passer.

He is lining up at DE here in T.C. as a situational rusher in the nickle. Why would Wade do that if Carpenter can't rush the passer?

As Rack already mentioned, he is also doing pass rushing drills with the OLBs.

It seems to me, that Wade likes Carpenter's versatility. By reading into what Wade's doing, it looks to me that Wade is keeping true to his word...that he wants Carpenter to be used like Vrable (and move around), which means ILB AND OLB.

You don't play OLB in Wade's scheme if you can't rush the passer.

What we do know, is Wade likes versatility in his pass rush and likes to send blitzes from anywhere. James hasn't shown to be a good pass rusher in the NFL yet. Ayodele was a tweener coming out of college, and theoretically, should be able to do a better job.

To me, it looks like we are going to play Carpenter inside a bit because of his quickness, ability to cover, and he is someone who can provide a pass rush from the ILB position.

And he'll get some burn at OLB too. Which, again, Wade would only want him to do that if he could provide pass rush abilities.

Anthony Henry, Bobby Carpenter and some draft pick to the Pats for Asante Samuel.

Henry fits there defense now, not ours anymore. Carpenter just does not seem to be blossoming here in Dallas and the Pats need a young versatile LB. They will ask for more, give them a 6th or 7th rounder.

Samuel. Him and Newman would make this defense special, very special.

Bring the love, bring the hate. Let's talk.

NOWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!
Have things been that slow in camp to bring up trade scenarios this soon?
You don't trade a #1 draft choices in their 2nd year, unless you are the team getting the better end of the deal.

No way! How are you going to pay Samuel and Newman. Dallas could draft a corner next year. Carpenter is just getting started. Linebackers are crucial to this defense. Carpenter has the speed and athletic ability to get better, and he is a high character guy. He is younger than Bradie James and faster.

I wish they'd alter the rules on trades so something like this could at least potentially happen but as it stands we cant even enjoy meaningful banter about trades because they so seldom happen.

Adamjt could fix the cap rules for trades in about 5 minutes.

Maybe Goodel should hire him.

We need to trade Carpenter ASAP. He had a terrible week of practice and he has really disappointed a few posters on this board. We should trade him for a couple of next years first rounders.

Strangely this is no more extreme than some of the positions you actually take.

It's been one freaking year and he was certainly seeming to blossom late last season. Ugh.

:banghead:

Exactly. He had to be accounted for when in the game.... and he has hardly even played in nfl.
