Four year contract for WP is bad news

I fear that with WP as HC, Jerra will be indulging himself with odd choices and drafts and strategies.

Four years is a long time to learn Jerra might have made a big mistake in hiring Wade Phillips.

Or, if Jerra has seen enough after a year or two, it will be expensive to unload him.

And most tellingly, it effectively closes the door on Cowher. Cowher would have taken this group to the Super Bowl by grit and determination. Something I just don't think WP has.

So far what I've seen from WP is a lot of poses to look as if he's in deep thought or is a football genius/enigma waiting to delight Cowboy fans with his innovations.

Wow. Four years. I have always thought Jerra did his best for the 'Boys and think he's the most proactive of all NFL coaches. But he hs shot himself in the foot, IMHO, with this WP who might be a yes man to every whimsy Jerra has.

WP, it seems, is best suited as a coordinator.
4 years!???

At least it doesn't affect the salary cap.

Wade hasn't been a full-time HC since he was fired after the 2000 season [the Bills finished 8-8]

What has changed in the 6 seasons since?

I wonder why the other teams in the NFL did not hire WP as a HC?

We have to give the guy a chance. His history shows he's a failure, but a certain HOF coach in New England was a failure until he started coaching there.

I'm more worried about our meddling owner, and he's looking more and more like Al Davis with a face lift.

Its only 3 years guaranteed, the fourth is a team option. Its exactly the contract one would expect. No coach would want only two years guaranteed and four years guaranteed would be a little long.

Actually his history shows he's average, not a failure.

But you're right, he does deserve a chance to prove he can do it, considering he's the coach for the foreseable future.

people wanted a more agressive defense and that what wade brings.our offense was far from the problem last year. i wanted wade all along but no matter who you wanted i think you have to give this a chance. he's hear so get over it.i think he will make this defense very good and i think we will be a very good team next year. you can't always judge a guy by his record without looking at what he had to work with. bellichek could'nt win without talent and neither could jimmy johnson. it takes talent to win and we have good talent. give it a chance and i think you will like the results

It's a great hire. I love the move. Our D will be AWESOME.

Yes. Our Defense should be much improved.

What about Special Teams, the Offense, and Head Coaching?

the offense was better last yr...but our special teams and HC have sucked for several years...

I doubt WP will be any worse...in fact I suspect the results will be far better

Thats nice to hear, but Wade is not an OC.

From what everyone is saying, Wade isn't going to be running the offense, or special teams.

At least Bill P knew enough to call the plays.

Bill was an issue with the offense, there is no question...maybe without him meddling and having the handcuffs on it the results will be even better

we have good players...the results will improve with better game plans, schemes and preperation

So what do you guys like better spagetti or lasagna?

I like spaghetti as long as it isn't handcuffing my offense making my defense conservative and turning great players into mediocre ones. Lasagna has been known to do that. Lasagna stuck in his way only seeking to ruin all it touches, it doesn't and never did care about winning or losing simply about depositing a paycheck. Stupid lasagna is ruining this team!

There are different types of lasagna, so you might want to clarify that.

Spaghetti is tasty for an average night at home.

Lasagna can be made exotic...veggie, chicken, beef, spinach... Yum :)
