I don't like this....

They get rid of TO. The Fox reporter says that Donovan McNabb looks happier than he's seen him this year.

They lock up Westbrook proving they will stand up for their vets.

Could this be the momentum the Eagles need to get back in the NFC East? :(

Vital signing for them and long overdue. Next to McNabb he is the person that makes that offense work with his ability to run the ball like a RB and catch the ball like a WR. The Eagles management has had a reputation for next appreciating their talent (releasing Simon at the start of the year when they had the money to sign him) and I think that is another factor behind their demise this year.

No, they need more than a happy westbrook
This is just ONE step in getting their moral back up. A happy McNabb (with TO gone) and happy Westbrook (with a new contract) and the rest of the team starting to feel the relief of the tension around them. This is not good news. I still think we are a better team at this point and can beat them...but it did just get a little harder IMO.

they'd be fools not to make this deal.

but westbrook is not enough. especially w/ an ailing mcnabb.

Its a first step= but it is very late- and under the gun. Not something they would do this quickly otherwise. That is the message this sends to the rest of the players.
Does not solve their D problems or not having much on O now outside of Westbrook.

haha, this is great. They had to get Westbrook inked, he is vital to their future.

TO is probably walking around his house right now ranting to his dog about how no one respects him.

Nah he is on the phone with his agent telling him to get him another ESPN interview so he can rant to the world.

who cares...their defense is still a sieve and McNabb is playing pretty mediocre football...and if they couldnt run the football WITH TO on the field, they arnt going to run it without him either

I am looking forward to several more years without the Eagles having a running game.

Signing Westbrook does nothing about their problems on D or having no other real threat at WR. they may play better, but they are not as good as they have been, and withMcflabb unable torun around like he has, they are going down.

I don't like it. I was hoping for the Eagles team to crumble under the cheapness of their management.

The reason the Eagles don't have a running game has nothing to do with Westbrook but has everything to do with Reid. Westbrook is an effective runner when given a chance.

Reid ran the ball much more when he had Deuce Staley as his primary runner. Staley had several seasons of 250+ carries. Even a 300+ carry season.

Reid has to protect Westbrook because he can't hold up to 20 carries a game. Which is why Westbrook has never carried the ball more than 177 times in a season.

Westbrook is a excellent third-down, change-of-pace type of back who can run well when the defense expects a pass (not that he's only a third-down back, but that's the TYPE of back he is). But he still is unproven as a pound-the-ball, carry-the-load back. He has had more than 18 carries in a game ONCE in his career and rushed for 100 yards only TWICE in his career. That might be Andy Reid's fault, but the fact remains, he has never done it and might not be able to.

If Westbrook's deal guarantees that the Eagles keep a one-dimensional offense that can't pound the ball, that's a good thing for us.

Didn't the Eagles sign some power runner from the Dolphins to replace the injured Correll Buckhalter? Reid should run him then.

*I hate ESPN. Now I know more about the Eagles than I do any other team*
