3. Cowboys linebacker Bradie James confessed yesterday, "Man, it was gruesome looking at our film!" But he was thrilled that Dallas was able to escape with a 45-35 win. James said that the breakdowns in the win against the Giants were mainly due to players in the defensive backfield not used to playing together. He guaranteed it would be corrected immediately.
James couldn't say enough glowing things about Eli Manning's performance, which was outstanding. It was a rough season opener for the Giants, with Manning, Brandon Jacobs, and Osi Umenyiora all going down. We are talking about three of the five most important players on the team.

Why does everyone overlook the severity of Dallas injuries to players!

Let's see...

1. Ellis (Most consistant pass rusher is out)

2. T. Newman (The BEST, by far, corner on the team is out)

3. J. Ferguson (BEST run stuffing d-lineman is out for the year)

4. T. Glenn (Best deep threat and best hands at WR is out)

I'm tired of them always talking about the Giants injuries!

i know that there were a lot if missed assignments (and tackles, for that matter)........

i hope that phillips can fix what ails our defense; it's been too long since we played well (defensively)........and that includes the last 5 games, last year. we had newman in the line-up during those games; so it doesn't explain everything that happened vs. the giants.

i have confidence in phillips; but he needs to get this thing turned around.....

James, every QB you face will look "outstanding" if you give them all day to throw and WIDE OPEN recievers to throw to.

... because we all know that it takes a single game to establish chemistry.

I really don't think James thinks its that simple. I just found his statement to be funny in an overly simplistic way.

And I'm also hopeful along with all Cowboy fans that we can show significant improvement as a defense in game #2 whether its Newman's return, familiarity with Hamlin, Reeves & Spencer or totally separate issues.

It's not that it was all day, it's that the corners were giving too big of a cushion and the safeties did not make them pay. When you can step back 3, and find all the WR free, there's a problem.

They will talk more about the Giants injuries because Dallas was able to over come thos injuries in the game and the Giants were not able to pull out a win

I agree, but he also had lots of time on several of his throws, just sitting back there waiting.

The CBs need to be more aggressive, but if they are the pass rush HAS to get there or we're more screwed then we were last week.

And I have no confidence in our pass rush. Ware and Spencer can get to the QB, but Canty and especially Spears are non existant in that area. Ratliff is a good rusher, but it's hard to get to the QB from the NG position.

Nope, that would be TO. While Glenn is a deep threat because of his speed. TO has speed, size, and strength and combined make him a far more dangerous deep threat.

He followed that by saying - "You'd think I'd be used to that, by now. But you never get used to sucking that bad."

At least the Giants' FB didn't light us up.

From what I saw Sunday night and a re-watch of the first half I don't think we're too far away from getting our CB play and our pass rush into a more productive sync.

The pass rush I saw in that game is not the same anemic rush I've seen in recent years. It had little to show for it in tangible results but I think it holds some promise for the future.

I sure hope so.

In recent years we were not playing a "rushing" D. It was read and react.
This D is supposed to be all out. Let players make plays. It didn't look much different to me.
