This was exactly my thinking.

He was well enough to have been practicing two weeks ago, somthis thing hadn't affected him that badly. And if treatments started early and they're effective, what's to say he can't rebound in the same two weeks time?

I think we need to write him off for now.

It's going to take lots of injections and they are going to have to see how he responds.

My guess is workouts are going to be reduced somewhat to allow building of the immune system again.

Meaning his strength and bulk may be affected and he would have to gradually take on more as the therapy proceeds.

I think next summer we will know more.

In the meantime..

Let's see if Looney can play.

As long as he's on the roster at the beginning of the season thay can designate him on IR to return.
I think after 8 weeks they can make the decision on his future.

They did away with the designate to return tag. They can bring back two players, but do not need to specify who they are as they are added to the IR lost.

I think after 6 weeks they can practice, then have 2 weeks to decide to activate them or leave them on it. I think it works the same way and the PUP and NFI in that regard.

He doesn't have an immune deficiency, rather a disruption in the myelin sheath which protects nerves, causing motor and sensory deficits.

There's no pain to work through; he just has to wait for the myelin to repair itself and his strength to come back.

This has nothing to do with mental or physical toughness.

If he’s already working out, he’s unlikely to go on IR. His quick progress is very encouraging.

this is actually pretty good news because it means the doctors believe his immunity system attack on nervous system has subsided or they would never let him on field. Its possible he is already in recovery phase which is incredibly fortunate for such serious medical issue.

I really think we do. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I think Fredbeard is going to come back quickly.

He’d have to be placed on IR after making the original 53 in order to be eligible to return. He’d be out for 8 weeks if placed on IR.

They only put him on IR if they think there is *no* chance of him returning prior to 8 weeks, which means he would probably gone for the season, given the uncertainty in time frames associated with the disease.

He was playing. Then got treatments and felt better. And now is working out.

I just don't see that he fell that far, or that the treatment regime is pushing him backward from where he was, which was playing. Unless he takes a turn for the worse, I don't see him out that long.
