IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys’ offensive linemen can see the difference Bill Callahan’s making with additional time to teach the group.
Center Travis Frederick doesn’t believe the run game has changed dramatically in what it’s trying to accomplish, but he believes the biggest different to the running game is the amount of time Callahan can spend with the offensive line this year.
Callahan no longer has to call the plays, allowing him more time to do what he was originally brought in to do.
“He’s been an integral part in the success of the running game,” Frederick said. “It’s been over the course, from what I can tell, over the last two years, he and coach (Frank) Pollack both. I definitely want to throw Coach Pollack in there, because they work together to set up a lot of the run game and work with us as an offensive line very equally.”

We probably lose Bill Callahan, which is a great shame. Pollack, I hear good things about but don't know any thing bout him

Lose him to whom? Callahan was awful as a head coach. He's a better position coach. Unless he wants to take another college coaching job, he might have found is niche coaching the line, and not a better place to do that where he'll get more attention and fame than with the Dallas Cowboys.

As HC chances are your right but as an OC I could see him taking a job elsewhere. I know he holds the title of OC right now but Callahan did not seem happy about Linehan taking over his responsibility. Having said that I do think Callahan and Pollack have done an outstanding job and hope he does stay.

If his contract is up at the end of the season, I could see him leaving.

If he's still under contract, I don't think he's going anywhere. The Cowboys don't have to grant him permission to interview unless it's for a head coaching position.

I believe that is the case that his contract will be up after this season. There was talk during the off season of the Browns wanting Callahan as OC but Jerry would not agree to let him out of the contract

Unfortunately, I think he will leave then. It's a shame - he's an excellent line coach.

I agree chances are he will leave. I hope he chooses to say, I think they could build something special in Dallas. If he leave I would hope Pollack will stay on as OL coach. He is young (46) but has experience on college and pro level as OL coach (San Fran, Oak and Houston) as well as playing experiance

I am talking with out proof, but it's my take when Red brought in Linehan to replace Callahan there was bad feelings
on Callahan's part. Callahan may just want out.

With Watt coming to town.... Irresistible force meet immovable object.

I like our chances even against a talent like Watt. This is what we drafted for. IF I was the TEX I would line Watt against Free every play (let Clowney get stoned by Smith) and it would break eventually. Run L all day with Martin pulling though Free is a good rblocker too so can feel out the seams, etc. Think we win by double digits.

I agree.

Callahan is not really HC material.

He originally came in under Gruden..

who handed over his team in Oakland already prepared for a SB run to go to Tampa.

That's as far as we went once losing in the SB.

I don't think he could pull together a staff to be a HC

Your probably right and that's unfortunate. However, maybe Jerry can give him a raise to stay on as line coach. There is no reason why we couldn't she'll out more for these assistant coaches to stay. Especially when their doing a good job. Heck it doesn't even count against the cap so I would say why not.

I think the fact that Callahan can devote 100% of his attention to the o-line has been super effective. The group as a whole seems to be well prepared and my hope is that he sees this thing all the way through.

Go Cowboys!!!
