Free Agency a Success

For the first time in years, I feel like free agency has been a net positive. While I was disappointed that we were not in on ET, I understand passing for that price. Other than that, we’ve added Quinn, Cobb, Iloka, C Covington, Hyder, Fleming, Olawale, Ross, Woods, March-Lillard, and Witten, and lost only Beasley, Swaim, and D Wilson. If we can get Lawrence done for $20m/per, will be ideal offseason. Kudos, FO

 

Any offseason Cole Beasley leaves your team is a win in my books

 

He had 65 catches last season.

I think it was a lot of lateral moves

I am not happy at all with the 'haul' at all

I wanted to move on from Lee, Hurns and Witten and get explosive playmakers

how many explosive playmaking tight ends exist today? our young lbs are explosive/playmaking enough

 

Too many 1 year deal, no stability moving forward and if someone shows out DAL has no control over a Covington, Cobb, Hyder or Quinn. However, this style of contracts could be in prep for 2020 lockout.

 

Not for some, because he had a "bad attitude", and it hurt their feelings.

 

I suppose it's not as bargain bin as some bargain bin offseasons around here, but it's just patchwork that will only pay off if we win it all this year.

 

In the words of the immortal Bob Dylan:

Its been better than expected, I will admit that.

Still wish we would have gotten something done with ET, he would have made this defense just nasty. Iloka is ok, but he didnt play much with the Vikes and is slow, like really slow.

But getting Quinn from Miami is a big help to the D line and replacing Beasly with Cobb is an upgrade in my book.

So all in all, I give the FO an 80 for the offseason so far. Passing, but lots of room for improvement.

 

Drafts rarely mean much for the upcoming season it's more for the future.

 

Wow so if a player had the production of 120 catches you still wouldn't want him on the team because of whatever issue you have with him... nice

 

TE- Lost Swaim; Gained Witten and McCelroy
DE- Gained Quinn and Hyder
DT- Gained Covington
SAF- Gained Iloka

Think we upgraded at all those positions, while only downgrading at LB and slot, and I guess backup RB. And this is before the draft. If we can continually improve our roster in free agency with cap savvy moves, then continue drafting well that's a recipe for success.
