DeVonte Holloman played pretty well when starting at middle linebacker the last two games of the season. The Cowboys should give him a chance before signing a washed up free agent.

Hitchens will start over Holloman. Holloman had a tough time getting off blocks. Holloman may end up playing in the spot during passing downs.

Maybe marinelli can get urlacher to come out of retirement.

I would not be surprised to read that floated out there if the news breaks that he is done.

I cannot say I would be against him or Fletcher, etc.

I have a feeling a veteran presence in the middle might be what this defense needs. Even if it is for running downs and short yardage.

This is actually a pretty damn good idea.

Fletcher has lost so many steps it would be like having brady james back there. I say sink or swin with the pups on the roster. Speed up there development and see if you need to draft their replacement next year.

So you are saying the "it was an okay draft pick because he was a crap shoot anyways" fourth round draft choice will start over the complete after thought beyond crap shoot seventh round choice?

I bet you are real conservative with your stocks, Winicki.

I think the intent of your post is misplaced.

I was in no way justifying the pick of kid in the 4th round.

But it is what it is, and this 4th rounder is now your starting MLB. Good pick, bad pick... he's it.

Well given the complexity of the coverages... Even Lee botched'em last year, I'm not sure having a rookie start in the middle would be good for business if you know what I mean.

True, I just wouldn't having a problem throwing a guy to the wolves if he had the tools to learn. I think we're too scared to expect too much these days, I'm prolly still lost in the 90's but theres somthin to be said for learn or burn.

I do think losing Lee hurts on a lot of levels, but we should have been used to this anyways.

I am pretty sure we will get all kinds of feel good warm fuzzy stories about him becoming a quasi-coach here.

That's all nice.

I think the Cowboys would be very very well advised to getting a veteran ILB. It may not have to be a three down player.

Just someone to fill the void on the field.

Lee may have been young but he was an old soul.
