Thanks Winicki. I just asked a question about their record during the '90s in another thread. Too many people try to read too much into preseason.

It's not meant to really guage your starters -- at least for us this year. It's to see who's going to be the best backups. You already know what you have as starters.

Are you being sarcastic? 3 Titles?
you just made my point....why on earth would anyone compare Super Bowl winning teams with guys who have not won ZIP!! And thinking they have done something, without winning anything, is the kind of attitude that will keep them from accomplishing everything.

The Cowboys' 1992 team, which had a losing preseason, did not end the 1991 season hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy.

Just sayin...

Holy Miss The Point, Batman.

The point is that preseason success or lack thereof is not indicative of how the real season will go.

i did not miss the point...i know the history of the Cowboys as well as anyone....you missed my point...this team, this coach, these players have not shown us any kind of heart and leadership like Irvin, Aikman, Emmit to even consider giving them the benefit of the doubt...or comparing them to teams that eventually won. Troy was all business. Emmit was obsessive. Micheal Irvin was a maniac...sure, I would feel a lot better about the appearance of this team if we had those kinds of guys on this team...but I have yet to see them. Most of these guys are content with making sure they get there new contract. Most of these guys are elated that Zach Thomas is here so the burden of leadership can be placecd on his shoulders.

The Commanders were 0-4 in 1991 preseason, and as I recall looked very poor all the way around.

Then rolled through the regular season and won a championship.

So it does happen, the big problem I see right now isnt the fact we're 0-2 or the scores in either game, its that the tackling has been so shoddy and there are too many penalties...the other thing is the first team offense doesnt look sharp at all, and Romo has had a problem since December of last yr of connecting with receivers down the field...I had assumed it was something related to the injury last yr, but its still happening

Hopefully we see some improvement Friday night...I would imagine the starters on both sides of the ball will play well into the 2d half

Thanks Winks - I was too lazy to look it up. I'm fairly certain one year they were winless in pre-season.

But we were winning playoff games and championships during those years. Hence, a lot less freaking out. We would have been much more concerned with Emmitt's holdout and Troy's back surgery, not wins and losses.

Remember his first preseason game back after that surgery? It was in Houston I think, and Aikman scrambled and dove into the endzone for a TD...I think Jimmy wanted to kill him after seeing he was alright...Madden went on and on about how that was one of the things that made Aikman such a great QB, he was just so damn competitive

Yep, it was Houston (a day game too, which was unusual for pre-season).

I live in Denver, Bronco fans suddenly think they are going to the Super Bowl and Cutler is now better then Romo. They have to be the biggest homers on the planet.

At least Dallas is coming to Denver next year during the "real" season. No way am I going to miss that one.

bbailey just face it man your theories on preseason football are borderline ******** but there will be a bbailey every year regardless it seems like.

Its crazy because I learned my lesson about preseason football at the age of 8.

We could be freaking amazing in the preseason and it just doesnt mean squat.

I watched the Raiders 2 years ago end up 4-0 in the preseason and end up picking Jemarcus Russel with the #1 overall pick.

Im not against criticising indvidual play but overall team play whether it be good or bad is just not accurate in the preseason.

It's not about preseason wins and losses. It's about attitude and intensity. I hope I'm proven wrong but I agree with bb. This team is lacking something. As Brain pointed out in another thread, it's permeated the organization through coaching and personnel changes for over a decade.

we dont need to develop a winning mentality in preseason. This is the time of year where we get our timing down and worry about winning on Sept 7th.

Saying all that, we do need to show up and prepare for this weeks game. It will be the first game where we gameplan and we do need a strong showing in the dress rehersal.
