I know you're fan, YR. But you really spend the 4th overall pick on Lynch, or are you just funnin'
Yes, I would. I would try to trade back a little if I could.
I don't get the rating of Wentz ahead of Lynch. Goff, I can understand because he's more ready right now. I don't think Wentz is anymore ready than Lynch. Wentz's throwing mechanics need a LOT of work (which is fine, shouldn't be that hard to work on if he sits the bench). Wentz played against small-time competition at a school that has superior players compared to the competition. Lynch played with lousy teammates against some very underrated defenses like Houston, Navy, Temple, Ole Miss, etc. The possibilities with Lynch are plentiful because he is extremely good at the underneath and deep throws. Easy to take away one of them, tough to take away both of them. And we can use him in read option looks. Imagine the RB to the right of Lynch and the backside defender having to contain Lynch. We can run behind Tyron and make it 10 vs. 10 football.
That's one of the things that teams did against us...they would jump the left side because they knew we were going to run the ball there. You want to have an explosive run game? Have a great O-Line and a QB that the back side defender must contain or the entire defense gets burnt. That will open things up quite a bit.
I just highly doubt we will get the chance to get a QB prospect like this anytime soon. If we don't get him now, chances are we'll end up having to draft a QB in the first round in some year after we go 7-9 or 8-8 and we'll either be scraping towards the bottom of the barrel or having to make some outrageous trade and throw away our draft.
My dream scenario is we trade down, somehow get Ramsey, Lynch and Ogbah. I'd dance a jig if that happens.
