From Peter King still sticking with Zeke like in his mock draft

3. I haven’t changed my opinion about the Cowboys from my mock draft on Monday. With the fourth pick, Dallas could choose to trade down, which the Cowboys would consider for major value. Or they could take Jalen Ramsey, who’d be a boon to this group of cornerbacks. But I gave Dallas Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott in the mock draft, despite the adequate backfield situation now (Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar, Alfred Morris), because I thought on Monday (and still do) that Elliott could be the kind of boost to Tony Romo’s career that Romo needs. I believe the Cowboys will fill their defensive line needs in later rounds.

You have to love these guys that cover all their bases.

Take Ramsey, Trade down, Take elliott.

So what is left? Taking Bosa?

Over the years, King usually has some insight with the Cowboys. Wouldn't be surprised if this is more than just speculation. I thought JG was a little over the to praising Ramsey in the press conference and Jerry slipped a little bit when he answered a question about playmakers on offense. If they do take him they better be converting third downs when they have the ball in the fourth and a small lead.

Picking at #4 for value/worth - you want either:

The QB, the guy protecting the QB (Offensive tackle), the guy sacking the QB (edge rusher/interior defensive lineman), or the guys scoring touchdowns (RB or WR).
Secondary players need not apply.

So you don't think they end up taking Ramsey?

I think there's a clear consensus forming on what they're going to do.

It's going to be Ramsey first, or Elliott second unless they're floored by some trade offer.

Anything else would be a surprise to me at this point, whether I agree with them or not.

Is Dunbar even in the RB equation?

Dunbar's not even sure he can come back, Right?

A clear consensus? How can you possibly say that? How can some of you think that anything coming from the Cowboys' FO is based on anything real, when time after time after time after time, it is obvious that teams are sending out misinformation every step of the way?

So you don't think they end up taking Ramsey?

Absent some divine intervention, the Joneses will overwhelmingly state that Ramsey is the best graded CB/Safety/WhateverPosition prospect since Deion Sanders.
So, yea they take Ramsey cuz Jerry can do no wrong with the #4 pick, right?

I'm pretty convinced they've decided on Elliott.

However, they will probably try to get cute and trade down to get him. That's risky.

Tell me about it if or when the pick isn't Ramsey if he's there, or Elliott if he isn't.

A multitude of sources closer to this team than Peter King, who is an administrator at this point and covering the entire NFL, not just Dallas.

I'll trust the sources that Bryan Broaddus, Todd Archer, or Bob Sturm are hearing from over King.

It came out a while back that Dunbar had torn his petellar tendon in addition to the ACL and MCL.

yep. but we can find a "dunbar" outside the #4 pick so his injury would have zero relation, i would think, to drafting elliot or needing to.

I'm not saying anything about the 'right' or 'wrong' of it. Just asking what you actually think they'd do. Stand down.

Well I must be as tied into the nfl as he is because I predict we take Ramsey, Zeke or trade back. Dang, I didn't know I was so good

Where were all these guys suggesting that we were interested in aggressively moving up in the first round to snag Claiborne? How about Frederick? How many of these guys thought we were taking him in the first round? Once again, I'm waiting to hear what history you're relying on to suggest that these guys know **** from Shinola? And I said nothing about Peter King, he doesn't know jack **** either. But you have suggested that the Cowboys front office is "nearing a consensus," which is really...curious.

I know you're fan, YR. But you really spend the 4th overall pick on Lynch, or are you just funnin'

Yes, I would. I would try to trade back a little if I could.

I don't get the rating of Wentz ahead of Lynch. Goff, I can understand because he's more ready right now. I don't think Wentz is anymore ready than Lynch. Wentz's throwing mechanics need a LOT of work (which is fine, shouldn't be that hard to work on if he sits the bench). Wentz played against small-time competition at a school that has superior players compared to the competition. Lynch played with lousy teammates against some very underrated defenses like Houston, Navy, Temple, Ole Miss, etc. The possibilities with Lynch are plentiful because he is extremely good at the underneath and deep throws. Easy to take away one of them, tough to take away both of them. And we can use him in read option looks. Imagine the RB to the right of Lynch and the backside defender having to contain Lynch. We can run behind Tyron and make it 10 vs. 10 football.

That's one of the things that teams did against us...they would jump the left side because they knew we were going to run the ball there. You want to have an explosive run game? Have a great O-Line and a QB that the back side defender must contain or the entire defense gets burnt. That will open things up quite a bit.

I just highly doubt we will get the chance to get a QB prospect like this anytime soon. If we don't get him now, chances are we'll end up having to draft a QB in the first round in some year after we go 7-9 or 8-8 and we'll either be scraping towards the bottom of the barrel or having to make some outrageous trade and throw away our draft.

My dream scenario is we trade down, somehow get Ramsey, Lynch and Ogbah. I'd dance a jig if that happens.
