lol no he didn’t.How in the hell did I discredit what Jimmy did in Dallas? You are just arguing to argue. Jerry and Jimmy worked together to get those rings.
Jerry is the one who fired Landry….im sure you guys will revise history and say how easy of a decision it was…..but it wasn’t.
The Hershel Walker trade was Jimmys idea but it required Jerry getting rid of their best player. Something Jerry wouldn't dare do now.
So yes he did a little more than just signed checks.
How is it passive aggressive? It’s clear as day. He did nothing in the salary cap era once he left Dallas…I don’t know what’s passive aggressive about it lol. Didn’t think you thought I was tried to hide anything….and for someone who “sees” through it notice I don’t discredit a thing he did in Dallas which is why I said “what did Jimmy do after”……lol no he didn’t.
Jimmy was in charge of football. He hired the water boy for Pete’s sake.
Jerry had no input on football and when he started interfering Jimmy wanted to leave.
Constantly saying “what did Jimmy do after” is your passive aggressive way of trying to downplay how instrumental Jimmy was here. I see right thru it.
I don’t think it’s a con. It’s clear what it is. You want to keep attracting younger fans. He’s not an idiot.:.well marketing wise he’s not.Hey, I enjoy a pleasant trip down memory lane as much as anyone. But this is just ridiculous...a crass marketing ploy by Jerry Jones to con younger fans who remember none of the ancient successes or ultra-disciplined mode of conducting on-field business into believing there is any equivalency at all between "then" and "now."

I was disagreeing with your “con” younger fans comment.Mark said:

____________
You've rather proved my point. Thank you.
Yup.Crickets....lol
It's just a rabbit looking for some carrots, that's all.Yup.
Classic tmc, though. Telling us how it was when he wasn't even fogging a mirror yet.
I am not a Jerry as GM fan but as an owner he does deserve credit as he bought the team, hired Jimmy Johnson, gave Jimmy what he needed in player and staff resources including effecting trades. They were a partnership so it was a mutual milking event as far as the end result of the teams prolific success particularly in the 90s. Jerry along with 16 Cowboys players was voted into the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017. However, Jerry should be embarrassed and regretful over assuming the GM position and making a mess of it when you look at the post 90s to the present results. Do the team and fans a favor, Jerry and quit your delusionary GM figurehead role and bring in a talented GM who can restore post season success. By the way, Tex Schramm who preceded Jerry Jones is on that same Pro Football Hall of Fame list and he had an upper management dual role of Cowboys President and GM as well.JFC, kill me. I genuinely don't understand how Jerry isn't embarrassed continuing to milk Jimmy's success from over 30 years ago. I guess he will continue to try and validate it was his success every way except being a competent GM in 2025.
Well yep, he stayed away from football ops, which is all I’m asking him to do now.I am not a Jerry as GM fan but as an owner he does deserve credit as he bought the team, hired Jimmy Johnson, gave Jimmy what he needed in player and staff resources including effecting trades. Sure seems that way.Well yep, he stayed away from football ops, which is all I’m asking him to do now.
He is beyond a control freak and for some reason thinks him and his kid are qualified to make personnel decisions, results never withstanding.
They don’t even come close to doing the work of a real GM and it’s a massive disadvantage. McClay doing that work and telling them what they ought to think isn’t the same as one persons vision, which is probably why their plan seems to be all over the place. They all trade turns getting their way.
If winning is what you want to do, this isn’t the place.Newsflash Jerry, the Cowboys are the only team that is a soap opera 365 days a year. And to you, that is winning. And to the rest the Cowboys are the laughingstock.
Well, what else does he have? He's got three Super Bowl titles. That's better than the great Clint Murchison Jr. I mean, there are a lot of owners who would love to have that many, so I can't blame Jerry for riding that wave. No matter what else he does or doesn't do, they can't take those titles away from him. Despite the 30-year NFCCG drought, they can't take those titles away from him.Unfortunately that early success with Jimmy is still the driving force with all of his apologist.
Apparently that provides Jethro a pass for life. And he’s going to ride that wave all the way to his grave.
Not true. At the time, Jimmy's hiring was considered a joke. When people said "The Clampetts" back then, they were talking about both Jerry and Jimmy. Johnson went on to prove himself. That's when he got well-deserved respect. It was a great hire by Jerry. I blame them both for the demise of what could have been. They were a couple of egotists. There wasn't enough room for the both of them (at least in their minds). Jerry had the power, so Jimmy is the one who left. Oh, what could've been, though.Amen. Any bit of success Jones has had with the Cowboys all flow from the very first (and still best, by far) decision he made as owner, which was to hire Jimmy. And even that was a no-brainer - pretty much anyone coming in as an owner at that time, for any team, would have wanted to hire Johnson.
I certainly don’t know any Cowboy fans personally who believe Jethro’s era or body of work was more successful or glorious than Murchison despite winning one more Super Bowl .Well, what else does he have? I'm not saying that it gives him "a pass for life," just that I see the reason for him saying look what I did, instead of focusing on look what I'm doing.
No, the Clampetts reference was never including Jimmy. Jerry was coined by local media as Jethro. No one else was nicknamed but the Jones clan was mimicked from the Beverly Hillbilly’s .Not true.
