Fun with Larry, Sam and Sonny, part deux...

Last week, I told y'all about listening to the second half of the Skins game on my Jeep's radio while driving to work, the broadcasting crew of Larry Michaels, Sam Huff and Sonny Jurgensen... I talked about how Sam was just about suicidal by game's end, muttering "I'm not gonna get any sleep tonight"...

Well, friends, I did the same thing again tonight, and the results were borderline hysterical again... seems Sam got discouraged in the first half, before I tuned in, and got rather quiet... at one point early in the second half, Sonny made a comment, and there was dead air, as Sam was supposed to weigh in... after a few seconds, all you heard was "I don't have anything to say"...

We get to 7 minutes to go in this game, and Sam finally rouses himself from his funk-- "there's 7 minutes to go in this game, it feels like we've been here all night"... to which Larry responded "well, Sonny and I have"... LOL...

At the 4 minute mark, one of the Pats running backs broke a 20 yard run, and Sam went POSTAL... "I hope Gibbs remembers this, the next time he plays Belichick"... the others asked him what he was talking about, and just like a Skins fan on ExtremeSkins, he blurts out "they're running up the score on us"...

At which point Sonny and Larry started arguing with Sam... it was the essence of great comedy... what makes it even more amusing is that trio is notorious for being dyed in the wool homers...

I'd have loved to have heard that..the only thing that could be funnier is if Theisman joined the fun.

Trust me, I only gave you the highlights...

I will say one thing for that crew, they're good about giving you the game stats periodically... of course, at one point one of them said to their statistician "we really didn't need you tonight, John"... :lmao2:

I don't get it, where's the humor?

You don't see the humor in a professional sportscaster having a homeristic meltdown on the air??

Then how 'bout the humor in a supposed Super Bowl contender playing like hammered crap, while their homer announcers are forced to tell the fans about it??

That's the kind of listening I enjoy... hilarious...an audio version of Extremeskins during a loss.

All teams fans and supporters are funny when they're losing, specially the Skins because the swing from total homerism to abject misery is so 'extreme'.

Those three Washington homers are very entertaining. They have fun and make no pretenses about not being homers.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way it comes off... I can't imagine that crew would last for more than a season in any other NFL city... but I'm sure that Danny Boy is all in favor of their homerism...

But y'know, while Sam's little meltdowns are comical, I think that's the reason he's so well-liked by Skins fans... for sure, he wears his heart on his sleeve, and he bleeds burgundy and gold...
