Pacman thinks he's coming back to Dallas

Pacman Jones tried to conduct as best a PR cleanup job as he could (it's just not possible with him) in an interview on CBS' NFL Today Saturday with his lawyer Robert Langford. Jones was released this week by the Cowboys amid new allegations surfacing from a shooting incident in Atlanta while he was on suspension in 2007.

Jones was in Studio City, Calif., and was interviewed by James Brown. The final part of the interview was about Jones' future and if he thought he would still be in the league next year. Most believe he will be knocked out of the NFL for good.

"The off-the-field behavior, that's over with, man. I have one court case in March and I'm back to what I love doing most, playing football," Jones said. "I think I'll be playing football next year. If I had to pick somewhere I think I might be back in Dallas. I love Dallas. I wouldn't mind playing nowhere else, but I do love the Cowboys."

Brown: You have an inkling that Jerry Jones will give you another shot?
Jones paused and then had a little sheepish grin, nodded in a cocky manner and said, "Yeah, I do."

It's hard to believe this would be possible. Jerry certainly can't make this mistake a third time with Pacman.

Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple told The Associated Press the team had no comment.

Pacman also said: "I did have an alcohol problem, but I have addressed the alcohol problem and went to AA,” he said. “I went there for 2 1/2 months, going to AA every other week, seeing my counselors every day.

Regardless ... I’m doing whatever it takes for me to change my life as a man, you know. Football, I’ll always love football and always want to play football, but I still got to take care of myself as a person also.”

And that's the right approach for Jerry Jones to take. The only question is, "Can he let this story play itself out in the press without commenting about it at some point later"?

Gotta be the first time someone has turned down the opportunity to yack to the media about this team in years.

Anyone else feel a little "grimy" right now?
Nothing against Pacman, I hope things work out for him,
but the fact that my team is so closely associated with
this player, under these circumstances, makes me feel
grungy!
Plus, I'm not entirely convinced that JJ won't find a way
to resign this guy. Unlikely, but very possible.

I'm really uncomfortable as a Cowboys fan with the judgement,
or lack thereof, as expressed by our GM, JJ.

Fire the GM!:banghead:
