Looking at RB in draft?
Could the Cowboys be looking at running back help for Marion Barber in the first round? Felix Jones of Arkansas maybe. Listen to what Jerry Jones said about drafting a RB and about the priority of the team in adding help in the backfield.

''We're sitting here with Barber that puts us in good shape,'' Jones said. ''I wouldn't say we have to be sitting here as far the running back situation. ...there is no gun to our head at all in this draft.''

Holding out for Terry Glenn
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is holding out hope veteran receiver Terry Glenn will return next season and be effective.

Glenn, 33, played just two games last season after having two knee surgeries. Jones believes he can't get an impact receiver in that draft but has it in Glenn.

''I know we've got it in house if Terry Glenn can do it,'' Jones said. ''I am thinking positive about Terry Glenn. I don't have any idea how he is going to continue to go, but he is going to be very much apart of our plans. We may have the best thing since ice cream in house in terms of a veteran receiver that you can get to come in and that would take the heat off and really add balance to Terrell Owens.''

No change in Pacman talks
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, during his press conference on Tuesday, said there is no progress to report in a potential deal for Pacman Jones. He said the talks have quieted down and said he doesn't expect the draft to create a lot of interest either in the talks.

Cowboys want veteran WR
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he has talked with another team in the offseason in regard to trading for a veteran wide receiver. He would not reveal what team or when he talked with them but did say he has not talked with Cincinnati Bengals (which would be about Chad Johnson).

The Cowboys will be in the market for a veteran receiver on draft day and those possibilities include -- Johnson, Arizona's Anquan Boldin and Detroit's Roy Williams. Jones will be searching for a veteran because he does not believe there is an impact wide receiver in this draft. So, rule out the Cowboys going with a receiver with one of the first round picks at No. 22 and 28.

Draft ready
Owner Jerry Jones said the Cowboys are ready for the reduced time it takes to make picks this year in the NFL Draft.

Each team will have 10 minutes to make a selection in the first round and 7 minutes to make a selection in the second round. Only the first and second rounds will be held Saturday. On Sunday, rounds 3-7 will be held with 5 minutes to make a selection.

"When we tee up, we're ready for everything," Jones said Tuesday during the Cowboys' pre-draft news conference.

Exactly what does that mean? Sound like a lot of double talk.

Hmm, I don't like counting on a 33-year old with knee problems... Jerry needs to get a young veteran to compliment #81.

I'll either be ECSTATIC on draft day or very disappointed. That's what I get for getting my hopes up.

I would still like to draft a receiver or acquire a vet early Saturday.

Keenan Burton is a name I'm warming to.

Burton would be a great pick-up for us in the 4th round or so. He's a good receiver.

He pretty much said we could go the entire draft without picking a RB and he'd be okay with it.

Interesting.

Perhaps a smokescreen within a smokescreen.

What do you expect him to say. He's learned his lessons well. No advertising before the draft. Glad to see he has hope in TG. That's really our best bet. Won't stop him from improving the club if he can get players at the right price.

Bingo! Jerry should not count at all on Terry Glen, this season.a 33 year old reciever who get's hurt every year is not what we need.Jerry is fooling himself. or he's in total denial. im worried about what bad deal he will make on draft day. keep our picks and take the best players Jerry.

You know, Dallas already has another runner on the squad:

Alonzo Coleman RB 5'10 207 Hampton 4.49
By: Robert Davis

Coleman has been one of the most productive running backs in college football, at any level. He has rushed for over 1,000 yards every year in college, beginning with 1,137 as a freshman in 2003. He added 18 rushing touchdowns to his yardage total, earning 1st Team All MEAC honors along the way. He did not disappoint as a sophomore, finishing the year with 1,133 yards and 13 TD’s on the year, again earning 1st Team All MEAC honors. Coleman became a three time All MEAC selection as a junior, rushing for a career high 1,326 yards and 19 touchdowns on the year. He closed out his career with 1,052 yards and 12 touchdowns, and another All MEAC 1st team selection.

Very few players are as consistent as Coleman. You know he’s going to show up and give you everything he has every game. He shows good quickness to the hole, and the quickness to cut and make the first defender miss. Coleman is willing to run between the tackles, take hits, and battle for extra yardage. He has also shown to be durable, being the focal point of the running game and being ready to play each week.

There are a few questions about Coleman’s game and how it projects to the NFL. The biggest issue is his size. His listed size is only average, but he appears to be even smaller than that. He also lacks the power in his running style to be a threat between the tackles at the next level. While he has good quickness, Coleman may not have the extra gear to run past better competition. For a smaller back, he also has not been used much as a receiver, an area he must be able to compete in at the next level.

Alonzo Coleman has a tough road ahead if he hopes to play in the NFL. He lacks the size and speed to be an every down back, but lacks the experience as a receiver and return man to be counted on as a reserve. He has good initiial quickness and is tough, but that is not enough to make it in the NFL. He should get a shot in camp to prove his worth, but his ability to catch the ball and to play on special teams must be proven if he hopes to stick anywhere.

:p:

Maybe Coleman is a secret weapon.
