Hot Weather? Who?
After Saturday's game against the Broncos in the more climate-friendly area of Denver, the Cowboys will finally return to D/FW. They've been gone since July 24 and I think it's safe to say that everyone on the team or even those who have been following the team since then have become spoiled rotten by the weather.
While the rest of North Texas has cooked and baked in 110 degrees temperatures and "cooled off" to the highs of 94 degrees, those of us in Oxnard, San Diego and currently Denver have reviled in these great temperatures.
But now there is the issue of re-acclimation.
The hottest temperature the Cowboys practiced in since they left D/FW had to be on Wednesday in Denver, when it reached around 88 or 90 degrees. The rest has been in the low 80s, or the 70s.
When the Cowboys return to Valley Ranch to begin practice, the forecast is for 84 degrees and rain. Since weather forecasters make a great career out of being wrong, I'm betting on hot, humid and no rain.
Either way, Wade Phillips has planned for hot and miserable.
"I made them work outside last year when it's hot and I tell them they can go inside and they all cheer," Phillips said. "If it's too hot we'll have to go indoors and it depends on what we can accomplish. The good thing about this weather is it gets you in good football shape. When we go into the hot weather it won't be as bad."
