Right in the middle of the national Anthem,Kanye West will interrupt Jordin Sparks and declare that Whitney Houston's Super Bowl XXV rendition was better.

Isn't it tradition for a trumpet player to do the National Anthem at a home Cowboys game?

I just hope she doesn't pull what a lot of these singers do and use our anthem to showcase how 'great' they are at tweaking notes. Just sing it straight.

This is the Dallas Cowboys....the grandest stadium every built to date....the jewel of Texas.....and IMO, the singer should be an iconic figure from Texas......Willie Nelson

Oh man, me too... you go back a ways as a Cowboys fan...

I also long for the days when the fans in the stand would break into the chorus from Tanya Tucker's "Texas (When I Die)" at the end of the third quarter:

And when I die, I may not go to heaven
I don't know if they let Cowboys in
But if they don't, just let me go to Texas
Texas is as close as I've been

To me, those were Cowboys traditions, ones that should be brought back... a link to the glorious past, if you will...

An even cooler idea than having Willie Nelson sing

Have participation from each of the 4 branches of the military singing the National Anthem.

Then at halftime, have each branch do a marching exhibition to their own song.....finishing with all 4 branches on the field together, saluting the Flag, while those that sang the National Anthem, got together to sing America the Beautiful.....

I am telling you, it would be the most awesome way to open up the new stadium.

Its virtually guaranteed that whe will butcher the antherm this way. I'll be pleasantly surprised if she sings it normal.

Whitney was good, but no one will ever top Marvin Gaye at the NBA All Star game.

I agree. Whitney's rendition was the best "straight singing" version of the anthem ever. Marvin Gaye's was nice, but he strayed from the traditional version. It didn't really sound like the national anthem. It sounded like one of his hits.
