Punt drills

Cornerback Adam Jones (if reinstated) will be this team's primary punt returner. He looked shaky early when he arrived during Valley Ranch workouts. Not any more. Also returning punts was Patrick Crayton. CB Anthony Henry appeared to be next in line to take a punt return before the drill ended.

Adam Jones going Deion-like

Cornerback Adam Jones is wearing a white do-rag, sock-looking thing on his head like his new best buddy Deion Sanders once did. The two are very close and remember Jones is wearing No. 21 like Sanders. Wade Phillips brought up Sanders when talking about Jones' ability last season. Man, I had to backspace Pacman five times in this entry.

One-on-one drills

They are going on right now with the wide receiver and cornerbacks. Always good stuff to watch here. This is what I have seen so far.
CB Alan Ball all over Sam Hurd for a PBU.
WR Mike Jefferson breaking on and beating Anthony Henry fairly easy (not a good sign).
WR Isaiah Stanback getting a step on nearly every CB he goes against.
WR Danny Amendola tries a double move on CB Terence Newman and gets just enough seperation for a nice catch along the sidelines.

Seriously, we already know exactly what we'll get from him....a fair catch.

Everyone knows this is going to be Adam Jones' job, but I'm surprised Amendola isn't getting reps back there instead of Crayton.

Sometimes all we need is a fair catch, nothing cute. In those cases, put Crayton back there.

What for? Anyone with a pair of hands can do that, and at this point, Crayton is actually more irreplaceable than Jones.

I actually liked Austin when he was returning kicks. I'd rather see him than Crayton.

Now can he turn and catch the ball on a regular basis. Seems the speed is there. Come on Isaiah, we have a #2 spot waiting, ok maybe #3.

Austin does kickoffs and Mr. Faircatch/Patrick does punt returns.

Hopefully Adam, Danny and Felix will have something to say about that soon.

Given Stanback's 40 time, we should worry about the CBs' speed.

Austin wouldn't be a good punt returner..need wiggle for that. Don't need a lot to be a good kick returner but just tad of wiggleability would help in get past the dang kickers.

Maybe, he's a topend speed guy, not a 40 yard dasher.

So he runs in circles or zig zags to get his speed up. Then shabammm, he's going.
