Actually they gave him 2 seasons prior to that to show he could do it. He sucked from the time he got here all the way to the time he was cut. He had more than enough time to at least prove he didn't suck anymore.

Oh I agree he should well before then that he sucked. But him being released when he was had much more to do with the drug test than it did on what he did in 4 days of that training camp.

Actually it makes perfect sense. They arrived at Camp. The QBs took part in drills and practices. Vinny satisfied them that they could start him. Quincy was still making the same mistakes. They decided not to put off surgery. So they trimmed the fat. The key to his being cut was Vinny Testaverde. He was good enough right away to convince them there was no need to wait.

The ideas that they would postpone it and see how it rides out make no sense at all. Yes, he failed a drug test. But I am telling you that was incidental to their plan. If he was clean he still would have been waived. He was no longer in their plans. When you bring in 2 QBs in one off season it means things were not good at QB the previous season. We did it again in 2009. The only difference is there is no chance the starter gets the door because despite Quincy's hollow guarantee that Tony wouldn't even be here, he has proven himself and the ceiling for his potential is tremendously high as opposed to badly limited.
This is exactly what happened. Hos nailed it. The day Vinny was signed the clock started ticking. Truth of the matter is.....SOME QC fans simply wont let go. They want so badly to believe that if only it werent for his drug addiction he would have went on to becoming a good QB. QUIT living in denial. The guy sucked as a QB........BADLY. These X Q fans want to blame his release on ANYTHING but the fact that he simply wasnt very good. Dream the dream all ya want, STILL doesnt make it reality..........

You said it better than I could have. In one sentence. I hate you now. I hope you can live with that. ;)

Truly sad what happened to him.
The only thing that "happened" to him was he was drafted by the Cowboys. Everything else he did to himself.

No kidding.....how anyone could miss the days of the dropping the ball when winding up to throw the ball, the fumbling the snap and the Quincy punts are beyond me.

I'd forgotten that Vinny was already here, when they cut Carter, for some reason I was thinking they signed him afterwards.

So, yeah, that validate my point, entirely, that if Carter doesn't get cut Romo does NOT make this team, even as a PS squad that year.

Carter, Vinny, Henson, Hutch. They're not going to keep 5 guys around. Hutch would have wound up on the PS with Carter, Vinny, and Henson being the top 3.

No room for Romo.

So, again, thank God Carter got cut or Romo would have wound up somewhere else at the end of that TC.

Hutch couldn't have been put on the PS, he started/played too many games.

I'm pretty sure Hutch was already gone.

Those first couple of days of 2004 camp, we kept about how Quincy looked more confident than ever and was stepping up his game with Testaverde on board.

From Tim Colishaw, three days before QC was cut..

The smart money is on Parcells to acknowledge Carter as the starter sometime after the second or third preseason game. Barring injury, there really isn't much time for him to lose the job or for Testaverde to lay claim to it – especially not with just two days between the Cowboys' third and fourth preseason games.

"I think Quincy has handled everything just fine this off-season," assistant head coach Sean Payton said. "He's one year into this system, and I think that's going to be really helpful for him as he goes through this again."

From Big Bill, two days before Quincy was cut..

"The fact is that Carter is "the starter." And, if he takes care of business and improves as a passer and decision maker, he most certainly will remain the starter -- to which even Parcells doesn't disagree.

"I would say he has a leg up on pretty much everybody because he was the guy that played the best and started last year," Parcells said. "... Now, if someone was to completely outperform him and give us a better chance, I will make a change. We will see what happens. He is in good position to be improved. And that is what I am looking for."

From a football standpoint, cutting the guy who started the last couple of years for a 40-year-old who had started 12 games in two years after seeing them practice three times into a month-long training camp makes NO SENSE. Ask any football coach if three practices is enough time to determine whether a guy is capable of starting for you or deserves to be cut and they'll all tell you no. Especially when you consider that there were no reports of QC playing terrible enough to lose the job and no reports of Vinny dazzling everyone enough to win the job.

QC was cut because of the failed test. Plain and simple. I don't think he would have been QB of the team very much longer either way, unless he kept his nose clean and made gigantic leaps, but he certainly wasn't cut for playing poorly in three practices.

Dear Quincy:

You are such an easy target because of your ongoing stupidity. Lack of judgment, lack of even basic football skills.

Still, I can't help but feel sorry while you are being kicked while you're down.
It just feels lousy.

Believe what you want, but you are wrong. There is a reason why his grievance against the Cowboys was denied. No team can release a player because of a failed test. If the Cowboys had they would have been sanctioned and they weren't. You can buy Quincy's version that Jerry made the evidence go away, or you can believe the truth. That there's no truth to the idea he was waived because of the failed drug test. The evidence for the truth is overwhelming.

Axl is on ignore, but someone tell him to watch the video and read Parcells' testimony in the case. He was thinking about getting rid of Q in 2003.

Exactly. Parcells vidicates my "story" and debunks Quincy's conspiracy theory. All I did was fill in some blanks.
