The Circus Is Here
The Residence Inn hotel here in Oxnard has turned into Valley Ranch West these days. There are a buhzillion HBO "Hard Knocks"/NFL Films people running around getting ready to shoot 356,234 hours of footage to chronicle the training camp.
But you really know things are differen than the last time the Cowboys were out here in 2006 from the look of the tennis courts here. The tennis courts are turned into a mini media center, with a platform at the end of the court where the coach can do his daily press conference.
When Bill Parcells was here, the stage was very modest. A no-frills thing to compliment then coach Bill Parcells' preference for all things low key.
The stage that has been built now looks like something out of Las Vegas. The stage is huge, complete with big lights and several Ford sponsorship logos.
It also has four microphones for the "important people" who are sure to talk today - Wade Phillips, Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, and some suit from Ford.
Last season's training camp was called the "Built Ford Tough Training Camp."
Because we're in green-happy California and in trying economical times, this will be called the "Built Hybrid Tough Training Camp."

TG Sighting?
Don't bet on receiver Terry Glenn boarding the team plane to California, but that does not necessarily mean he won't be with the team on Friday.
Sources have said Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been wrestling with what to do with the 33-year-old receiver for some time. He wants him, but there is the unknown factor that scares him.
Either way, one of Glenn's biggest fans remains quarterback Tony Romo. Romo wants him here, in a big way. He had built a repoire with Glenn, and trusts him to be where he is supposed to be at all times.
