Wade second guesses himself on Barber

Cowboys running back Marion Barber continues to deal with trying to manage the pain in his dislocated right little toe. He has re-aggravated it coming back the past two weeks against New York Giants and Baltimore.

Wade Phillips second-guessed himself Tuesday and said maybe the Cowboys should have held him out the past two games. If they would have done this, Phillips thinks Barber might have been healthy for the Eagles regular season finale. Barber missed practice on Tuesday.

"A dislocation, it can get well," Phillips said. "Maybe we shouldn't have played him at all and maybe he'd be well now."

Luckily for the Cowboys, rookie Tashard Choice has been a big-time producer in the backfield and eased the pain of Barber's ineffectiveness. Choice has rushed for 88, 91 and 90 yards in consecutive weeks and started twice.

In the past two games, Barber has been a game-time decision and warmed up well only to pull himself out once he saw some action. The trouble has been pain and cutting. He has 10 carries for two yards combined against the Giants and Ravens.

Barber had two carries and one catch during the final Cowboys possession in the first quarter against the Ravens. It was the only series he played in the game before he pulled himself. He will likely be a game-time decision again on Sunday.

Is this season a record for mishandling injuries?

This is actually ridiculous. If Parcells were here, he never let this happen. If you don't practice, you don't play. Same thing with Hamlin and Killa; they didn't practice all week and look at the 2 huge TD runs they gave up. Wade is clueless

We have a owner who mishandles the Cowboys because he thinks this is madden.

Then how about he doesnt play against Philly?

Tashard Choice is CLEARLY out performing him. Barber does not deserve to be on the field if he is going to hurt the team. Give the ball to Choice.

Put MBIII on the shelf and let's move on... Why make the injury worse???? What is wrong with this training/coaching staff, they're not getting the job done.

Yeah, I agree! There has to be some kind of stuff/creme to just rub on the toe, or broken rib, or the broken finger, kicked in the nads...you know, so that it will just go away instantly!

This is total hindsight. At the time we had no idea Choice would do this well against these tough defenses, and with our season on the line we needed all hands on deck if at all possible.

I think you missed the point smart ***... IF he's hurt do not risk further injury by putting him out there, let him rest and play Choice.

not really, but it probably is close to a record for bad luck injuries in general...and it seems all of them are key guys

What did you just call me? A smart-***?

Mods! Ban this fool!! ;) :D

No, most times it's not only up to the trainers/coaches, it also comes down to the player too. It the player tells them that he might/could go...then they have to take that into consideration also. The player is the one that knows his body...smart-man!
