Cut him because the media is obsessed?

Smart move.

Keep him around because a few fans and Jerry Jones are obsessed?

Smart move

I know it's hard for some to believe but that great journalistic behemoth called Yahoo may be taking people for a ride...

I gotta laugh because 90% of the time these stories come out and and a majority of people who read them and find they don't fit their agenda start saying it's made up but then as in the Ed Werder report players start talking and some how during the course of the interviews and over time as the story gets verified and the truth comes out you same few are not so quick to address it but instead prefer to move on on attack the next story.

No not everything you read on the net is true and some times the facts are stretched and perhaps the sources tell the blood hounds what they think will fit their agenda and not totally what really happened but the bottom line is their is truth hidden in a good majority of these reports so I don't see why you would be so quick to dismiss them.

Maybe Jerry invited one player over to his house, maybe 7, perhaps he actually met with them at the Ranch, it could of been a offensive meeting that Owens did not attend. Either way, a meeting took place that did not involve Owens and as more sources come forward we will be able to pull the truth out of the story but for right now there is smoke and where there is smoke there is fire.

Hey Stephen, can you teach dady to say no comment?

I think he could teach daddy a lot. I told my father today I actually look forward to the day Jerry hands the team over to Stephen.

I wish they would jsut cut TO, so that normalcy can return.

We can win 9 games and miss the playoffs without TO.

Are we imagining now that T.O. had never faced a jam, double coverage or safety help until last year?

I caught up with Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones at the Mavs game last night and tried to ask him about the rumors and speculation regarding his stance on the Terrell Owens controversy.

According to a recent report, Jones was expected to lobby his dad/owner Jerry Jones to ship Owens out of Dallas.

Asked about his role in the looming Owens' decision, Jones said "no comment."

Now Jones should be savvy enough to know that a "no comment" often gives one the assumption the question at hand is true and the person doesn't want to talk about it. If it wasn't true the person would simply say so.

Could Jones' "no comment" mean that he just doesn't want to talk about the Owens situation, considering that a gag order has been issued at the Cowboys' Valley Ranch headquarters?

Perhaps.

But he also could easily shoot down a false report that has him fingered as the guy who will help usher Owens out the door without betraying anybody's trust.

You decide.

And of course there's the little matter of the recent blog by Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports from the Pro Bowl where he says Jerry Jones has had several players over at his Highland Park home in recent days trying to see if the Owens situation can be worked out internally.

The only problem I have with Cole's report is that "sources" at the Pro Bowl also told him that Owens refuses to talk to other members of the offense in the huddle, in the lockerroom and at team functions.

Considering who is at the Pro Bowl _ tight end Jason Witten, center Andre Gurode, tackle Flozell Adams and linebacker DeMarcus Ware _ it's not hard to connect the dots who one of the sources might be.

The problem with that opinion the Owens doesn't talk to members off the offense is his seemingly good relationships with receivers Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton and running back Marion Barber.

It's also true that Gurode was one of the players in Owens' corner during the snitch controversy toward the end of the season, according to my sources.

There is no question that Owens is having a problem with Witten and quarterback Tony Romo. But the notion that he doesn't talk to other players on offense is not true.

With Owens it's always something.

One school of thought says the Cowboys need to get rid of Owens because he's a bad influence on Williams, Crayton and Barber.

Now we have a report from sources at the Pro Bowl that the Cowboys need to get rid of Owens because he doesn't talk to other players on offense.

It can't be both.

Clarence E. Hill Jr.
I went to a Yankees message board after A-Roid got caught juicing and the same comment kept popping up only replace Owens with Rodriguez. we are the New York Yankees of the NFL and that's disgusting. by the way how's A-Rod been working out for the Yankees? If you don't know just think of how Owens has worked out here.

While Hill's comments on the "no comment" are a perfect example of why there is really no way to stop the mass media from inventing controversy (people suggest Owens goes this route, but if he were to do so, you'd have Hill's reaction from reporters all over the country...just imagine..."T.O., do you think Tony's poor play hampered the offense down the stretch?" "T.O.: No comment." THAT'S A YES!!!), he does bring up a good point about Cole's yahoo article.

Owens has several well known buddies on the offense whom he talks to on a regular basis. So either the story is BS...or Cole did not do a very good job of interpreting what his "sources" told him. If he's not acknowledging people, it's probably only one or two guys.

You're right. It's never going to go away. Owens could be 100% innocent 100% of the time (not saying he was in '08) and the media wouldn't stop.

Still, you have to ask if his performance outweighs the fact that the media will never stop. Right now, I still think it does.

it's Owens fault that the media treats him this way. What does he expect from them after basically declaring war on ESPN. I'm not saying that the media is right. I'm just agreeing that the media won't stop until he's hanging from the cross. It's sad but then again all is fair in love and war and this war was declared by Owens.

Nice post 41.

Not really. It follows the belief that the team's problems all rest upon the shoulders of one player. Although I appreciate 41's well thought out post (& I did actually read it), I don't see the relevance of placing blame on one player. That one player was not the reason we got pounded 44-6 in a game that would have put us into the playoffs.

Owens isn't the player he has been in the past. His play declined significantly in 2008. The Packers and Commanders gave the blue-print for shutting him down or playing him with success. The 49ers didn't get the memo. Nate Clements played way off and let Owens get started. The 49ers gave him a career day, because they are dumb, I guess. The formula that Jimmy Johnson talked about was on tape.

Well, aside from the fact that I have had my hand slapped for doing that exact same thing in the past by mods.... Nah, no problems here.

It was a great post. It wasnt just an attack post on TO. It was well thought out and informative. Although most on this board should already know that TO isnt effective unless you play him loose. He was that way in philly also. The difference is philly built a gameplan around lining him up in the slot and always keeping him in motion. Even TO knows that he is only effective under that type of offensive. Where he gets so upset is when he isnt being featured and put into motion ect.

However, Bleu Star........

Why is it that when someone points out TO's shortcomings people like you try to say that it isnt all TO's fault. I dont think any cowboys fans really thinks our missing the playoffs is because TO cant be effective when he is getting jammed at the line. I think people post this because they are pointing out that even though he is talented and a very good receiver, he isnt so great that we cant win without him. And if he really such a big distraction or team chemistry killer that Jerry needs so have players over his house to talk about TO, then we are better off without him.
