In all honesty, there's not much I'd change right now. I'd prefer a different offensive coordinator, but other than that, not much.

You may think I'm an idiot, but in the last two seasons we're 22-10 and we're the NFC favorites to get to the Super Bowl, so obviously it's not a untenable position.

I would never call you an idiot for thinking the way you do. You're entitled to your beliefs. I'd have to be pretty high on myself to say you're an idiot for that.

And, sure, I can understand your angle. The regular season record, this season's barely above-.500 year notwithstanding, is better than solid. And making the playoffs at a .500 clip isn't terrible.

But all numbers can be skewed. I think it'd be like saying Romo's postseason woes are fine because he throws for a ton of yards and touchdowns.

There are elements of this team that are OK (like the overall regular-season record). But so much of that regular-season record is skewed by a 13-3 campaign that resulted in the first NFC team ever losing its first playoff game. The end result kind of diminishes the 13-3, no?

And this year, we were a hair above .500 and missed out on the playoffs -- this despite entering the year as one of the Super Bowl favorites.

So what you see as a nice 22-10 record I see as two of the more terribly ending seasons we've had. Note I didn't say two of the worst seasons -- just two of the worst seasons in terms of how they flamed toward a crashing end.

Just my two cents on why I'm so frustrated.

i believe during that drought dallas had several yrs where they couldnt compete because of all the dead money from retired players. then there was the brain fart that was bill parcells. u all might praise him, but he did what he did everywhere else. he quit on the team.

You act like our management had nothing to do with our salary-cap woes. Jerry was the one that would continually overpay for older, past-the-prime players. Sure, a few of the signings -- Aikman, for instance -- you could justify. But there were a number of signings during that run that had people scratching their heads at the time.

And you call Parcells a brain fart, yet without him acquiring most of the talent on our roster today, where would we be? Could you imagine Wade coaching a team led by a Jerry Jones handpicked quarterback? Hell, Hutchinson might be entering his seventh or so year as our starting QB if Parcells never arrived. :laugh2:

Sorry, I just can't agree at all. I don't understand how you can scoff at Parcells so much yet act like everything else is ok.

And, for the record, I'm not a huge Parcells homer. I think it was good he retired when he did, because he clearly didn't have the heart to coach anymore. I'm just glad we had his eye for talent/discipline around this franchise and desperately wish we had someone from his "tree" still leading the franchise to attempt to finish off what he started.

I appreciate your tenacity regarding Garrett.

I am not convinced either.

But the issues are worse than just an offensive coordinator.

Or a special teams coach.

Or offensive line coach.

The regular season records don't matter though.

The Cardinals tanked the regular season, won two more games than they lost and still came within some crooked calls and poor crunchtime defense of being champions.

The issue is we cannot even put ourselves in that position.

We have to win a playoff game to begin with.

We will not do that with our current head coach.

Bingo.

And I'm usually hesitant to use the word "never" in instances. But WHY should we have hope? Other than just the fact we're fans and should blindly follow the team? If that's the only reason, fine. But I've yet to read a real reason we should TRUST this organization the way it's currently run.

We have an owner that hasn't overseen a playoff victory in 12 years. A 60-something-year-old head coach who has never won a playoff game as a head coach. And a quarterback who, in addition to never winning a playoff game in only two tries, for three-straight years morphs into a more turnover prone Quincy Carter in December.

What gives? Why should I trust this current group of clowns?

Sure, I'm a fan. Sure, I'll root on Sundays. But until I see something that leads me to believe we don't have a much of idiots running amuck at Valley Ranch, I'll also voice my displeasure between game days.

blah blah blah, reguarding parcells, ill just say this. if dallas' scouts wouldnt have persuaded parcells to go with ware, he wouldnt be in dallas. need i remind u parcells wanted spears at 11 not ware. and again if parcels had his way newman wouldnt have been in dallas either. parcells didnt want newman, he was targeting robertson. if the jets wouldnt have picked him 1 spot before the cowboys he would have been a cowboy instead of newman.

so enough with parcells and his brought in talent. besides he was 10-6 with campos players. he was under.500 with his own players.

like parcells says, "u are what ur record says".

everybody likes to say parcells did so much for dallas. how they were structured because of the cap, was there anywhere to go but up?

might i remind u about 2004? dallas had antoine winfield and bertrand berry ready to sign in dallas. who does parcells sign? wiley, and tyrone williams? what a joke. oh yeah and chad eaton.

"Blah blah blah."

A brilliant, yet not unexpected, response.

Thanks.

u cant accept facts?

Look, you came across as an arrogant *******, frankly, with your blah blah blah start to your post. I don't recall treating you with nearly as much disrespect even though I disagreed with your opinions. It's only fitting that you would then trumpet that as some sort of argumentative victory.

Ironically, "blah blah blah" was probably the smartest thing you've said all night. Congratulations.

As for your "facts," find me one time I said Parcells was perfect here. I said I appreciated his eye for talent. I felt he and Jerry worked well together in this regard. I have also never stated I loathe Jerry as a talent evaluator. I once did, but he has improved dramatically in recent years.

As for your two or three examples of where Parcells might have whiffed (Gasp! He's not perfect), our roster is littered with quality players he drafted in the mid to late rounds.

Bradie James, Jay Ratliff, Jason Witten, and even an undrafted guy like Tony Romo. He took the risk on Colombo, signed Kosier, moved Gurode back to center, got Flozell to play the best ball of his career, drafted Marion Barber, signed a guy in Terry Glenn that proved invaluable, got a solid contributor in Patrick Crayton late in the draft, etc.

Again, I never state he was perfect. Just that our franchise was better off, from a talent standpoint, that he once was here working with Jerry. They formed a good team.

When did I question my fanhood?

I have said repeatedly in various posts that I will root like hell on Sundays. I'll wear the apparel. But I'll also voice my displeasure for as long as our playoff droughts and December woes can be compared to some of the most putrid franchises in the league.

I don't necessarily demand Super Bowl wins. I treasure those, and greatly want another one, but realize they are not guaranteed. But I at least demand a playoff win or two every decade -- as a bare-minimum for crying out loud.

I'm not a cynic by nature. The ridiculousness that is this offseason (and the conclusion to last season) is just turning me into such. The day this franchise starts showing signs of heading in the other direction, there will be no reason to complain.

All I ask for is some semblance that the people at Valley Ranch know what they are doing.

I'll grant you that "running into the ground" might have been harsh. But we're a highly mediocre franchise right now, and have been for some time. It just doesn't sit well with me.

Did TO run over your dog or something? IMO, Garrett single-handedly blew this season... I hate him...

A man who never takes the field blew the season?

You are lost.
