I couldn't see the game tonight - or hear it. I came to Cowboyszone and found ONE thread offering evaluation of what happened tonight. C'mon guys. Is this a Dallas Cowboys web site, or what? Can some of you tell me who you think looked good, and who didn't.

A few specific questions:
  • Is there any way Urban earned a spot on the roster? He intrigues me.
  • Did the second team OL stink it up? Rushing stats look horrible.
  • Not much out of Stanback. Did he look bad, or just not get many chances?

And what about the corners? Looking at the play by play, sounds like Thomas might not have done well.

Did Moore look good at QB? Fumbles hurt him, but passing stats are solid.

Sounds like Austin had a good game (penalties pulled back 2 of his best plays).

Given that is was 2nd and 3rd teamer playing together I think the best you could do is see a few glimpes from individuals. All in all the game was sloppy. It seem every time Dallas would hit a big play it would get called back because of a flag. I would say Austin stood out, I felt Reeves did a decent job, Moore had his moments and Curtis looked good

Tony Curtis might have the next best hands on the team after Terry Glenn...

Curtis did look good and I think he has a good chance of making the team.

While the punt return was nice, he made the return from the 5 which is usually a bad decision. (note I didn't see the game) Then top it off with the fumble and I'm think at absolute best he came out even. Worse in my book.

Tonight's game was pretty sloppy. It was almost like a scrimmage. 95 yard returns are always impressive, but to be honest Urban's return wasn't the kind of return that you say wow, he could do that in the regular season, too. He is a long stride guy and needs a little room to get up to speed. Fortunately he had room on that return and the Vikings didn't cover it well.

He is not as explosve as Stanback or Austin. I say he gets cut and possibly goes to the PS if he's eligible.

I wasn't real impressed with the way Thompson ran tonight. He's got the athleticism, but doesn't seem to have the instincts for the position. Unless there is a big hole, he's not that great. He makes the team as a kick returner.

Alonzo Coleman didn't get a lot of chances but I find him to be intriging. He's a quick little guy, kind of like Mewelde Moore. Maybe he fits on the practice squad.

I thought Stanback showed the speed he has on the kickoff returns. He didn't get a lot of throws his way as a receiver, and he looks very raw. There were a couple of times where he ran to one spot and the QB through to another, so those may have been mixups on his part.

Austin looked pretty good. He definitely has the athleticism and can get open.

I thought Bowen looked pretty good. He's got a motor. Ayodele to me looks pretty good too. I wonder if he has a chance at a roster spot, or if he'll clear waivers and he can go to the practice squad.

I thought Matt Moore looked solid other than the fumbles. He could be a diamond in the rough. I was watching the Vikings broadcast and Mike Mayock said that Moore is just starting to fill out. He's got good height and is a little skinny and maybe his body will get a little bigger and stronger the next few years.

I thought Spencer looked ok. We definitely need Ellis to bridge the way to Spencer.

You should read the game thread. There was a lot of good analysis (no pun intended) of Jenna Jameson.

I agree. As much as people say we should only keep 2 QBs, I think this kid has a little something. If it wouldn't break any requirement positional keep rules I would really try to keep this kid.

Without question, Spencer isn't ready to be a starter. Spencer has the ability, he just needs more time. He just can't get (all the way) to the ball and that is remedied by mastering technique. As we have seen, his burst and strength are there, but his technique isn't good enough because blockers recovering from his speed and strength fast enough to keep him out of the play. The same issue Ware had in his rookie season.

I'm pretty sure Urban's a 3rd year player and thus ineligible for the PS.
