Cowboys 38, Falcons 28: fourth quarter, 2:00 remaining
The Falcons made it interesting for a while -- probably more interesting than the Cowboys should have allowed them to make it. But once Dallas got its running game in gear, it was able to seize control of the game and put it out of reach. Marion Barber ran with power and authority on the Cowboys' last scoring drive. This game has sufficiently allowed the Cowboys to restore whatever confidence they might have lost after being pounded by New Orleans.

Cowboys 31, Falcons 28: fourth quarter, 4:20 remaining
The Cowboys defense finally caught up to Michael Vick and the Falcons offense, and Atlanta's inability to get anything going in the late stages -- including an unsuccessful fourth-and-1 conversion attempt -- has put Dallas back in the driver's seat. The Cowboys offense is now in a clock-controlling mode, running the ball and using high-percentage throws while taking charge of the game.

Cowboys 31, Falcons 28: End of third quarter
I'm not loving all of the trickery the Falcons are using. They have been effective enough with their conventional offense that they don't need to keep using Matt Schaub in and out of quarterback while putting Michael Vick in different spots. Vick can keep the Cowboys defense off-balance just by playing quarterback.

Cowboys 31, Falcons 28: third quarter, 2:32 remaining
The Cowboys have not been the least bit rattled by the Falcons' surprising explosiveness on offense, led by Michael Vick's impresive four touchdown passes. They methodically drove for the go-ahead touchdown. But they've been helped by a rattled member of Atlanta's defense, DeAngelo Hall, whose frustration over being unable to provide much in the way of coverage and general fiery attitude resulted in a hurtful penalty on the Dallas scoring drive.

Can either of these teams play pass defense? The Cowboys covert a third-and-13 ... are you kidding me?

Falcons 28, Cowboys 21: third quarter, 11:09 remaining
The ease with which the Falcons are moving the ball through the air is amazing. The Cowboys are leaving big holes in their zone coverage. Their concern over containing and spying on Vick is helping Atlanta get room in the passing game -- such as Justin Griffith having no one near him in the end zone as he caught the pass that put the Falcons ahead. The Falcons also continue to throw wrinkles at the Cowboys, putting Matt Schaub under center and then moving him to slot before putting Vick back under center.

Cowboys 21, Falcons 21: second quarter, 0:11 remaining
And with Michael Vick having forever to make a throw, as was the case on his touchdown pass to Ashley Lelie to tie the game, this has quickly turned into a shootout. It looks like there are many, many more points to come from both teams.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 21, Falcons 14: second quarter, 3:08 remaining
Once again, the Cowboys took advantage of a mismatch. Terrell Owens was one-on-one against DeAngelo Hall, and blew past him for a 51-yard touchdown to get the lead back. Tony Romo will always look to his go-to guy. The Falcons had better figure out a way to cover him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 14, Falcons 14: second quarter, 4:23 remaining
The Cowboys have used a wrinkle of their own, lining up Terrell Owens twice in the backfield before sending him out for a throw.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 14, Falcons 14: second quarter, 6:30 remaining
With Matt Schaub at quarterback, the Falcons put Michael Vick at halfback, and let him carry for a 4-yard gain. The Cowboys defense got the message to look out for such a backfield configuration. And before they could let it settle in, Vick fired a 52-yard strike to Roddy White to set up Vick's touchdown throw to Michael Jenkins. Between the defense starting to knock down Tony Romo's passes and disrupt him in the pocket while shutting the door on Dallas' running game, and the Falcons' revived offense, the momentum has decidedly shifted to Atlanta.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 14, Falcons 7: second quarter, 11:11 remaining
Maybe the Cowboys went to the passing well once too often. In a third-and-short situation that seemed obvious for a run, Tony Romo threw the ball -- and saw it tipped and intercepted. And that set up the Falcons for a touchdown that put them right back in a game just as the Cowboys were in position to seize control. The Falcons have new life, as Michael Vick, who looked to be struggling and out of sorts, demonstrated with his 11-yard run to set up Justin Griffith's short touchdown run.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 14, Falcons 0: second quarter, 14:50 remaining
The Cowboys' plans to shadow Michael Vick with DeMarcus Ware have paid huge dividends as the Falcons quarterback threw a pass that Ware, while coming in on a rush, jumped to intercept and return for a touchdown. Vick has not looked sharp or comfortable from the opening snap. Perhaps Jim Mora will go back to Matt Schaub. He might consider doing so before the game gets out of hand.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 7, Falcons 0: End of first quarter
Are the Falcons trying to shake things up for their own offense ... or for the sake of the Cowboys defense? They put Matt Schaub in for one play, while leaving Michael Vick on the sidelines. He threw a 10-yard pass to Michael Jenkins for a first down and the Falcons' first completion of the day. Before the game, there was speculation the Falcons might use Schaub at quarterback and Vick at running back for a play or two because of the injuries in their backfield.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 7, Falcons 0: first quarter, 1:32 remaining
The Cowboys' 11-play, 66-yard touchdown drive had to take plenty of air out of Atlanta's defense. In going 6-for-6 through the air, Tony Romo calmly threw the ball to wide open receivers as the Cowboys simply abused the Falcons' secondary. He found an ideal mismatch in the end zone -- Terrell Owens, his favorite receiver, going against the much smaller DeAngelo Hall. For all of his conflicts and issues, Owens certainly looked strong and determined in pulling down Romo's pass for the score.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 0, Falcons 0: first quarter, 2:00 remaining
Tony Romo is getting tremendous protection. He can sit in the pocket comfortably and make throws. And the Falcons have demonstrated no ability to cover any of the Cowboys' pass-catchers. They have no answer for Jason Witten.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 0, Falcons 0: first quarter, 6:00 remaining
With the Falcons defense giving plenty of cushion to the Cowboys receivers, Tony Romo is not hesitating to throw. If Dallas can get its running game going, it could very well take control of this game early.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 0, Falcons 0: first quarter, 8:26 remaining
The Cowboys defense did a superb job of containing Michael Vick in the pocket, while taking away his receivers by jamming them at the line to disrupt their timing. Vick did not look comfortable in the opening series because he did not see clear targets when he dropped back to throw.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 0, Falcons 0: first quarter, 12:38 remaining
The Cowboys clearly believe they can shred one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. They have come out throwing, but they need to establish some balance with their running game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cowboys 0, Falcons 0: first quarter, 15:00 remaining
The Georgia Dome is a playoff pressure-cooker because the stakes are ultra-high for both teams. Although the Falcons are unlikely to catch the Saints for the NFC South title, they can make the playoffs if they keep their two-game roll going. The Cowboys are very much in position to win the NFC East, but first they must prove they can rebound from their lopsided loss to the Saints in Week 14
