I was curious where the upcoming Rams game would rank as far as challenges for our offense compared to other recent (last 10 years) playoffs games.

For kicks, here is how I would rank the most difficult challenges for our offense in the last 8 playoff games.

Toughest first
  1. AT Minnesota (2009)___5th ranked defense but almost invincible at home
  2. Detroit (2014) ___2nd ranked dominating defense.
  3. New York (2007)___7th ranked defense but peaking and shut down everyone in playoffs...In Dallas helped though
  4. AT Green Bay (2014) __only 15th ranked D, but at sub-freezing Lambeau vs team off bye week
  5. AT Seattle (2006)___19th ranked defense but in Seattle
  6. Philadelphia (2009)__12th ranked defense but in Dallas
  7. Seattle (2018)__16th ranked defense but in Dallas
  8. Green Bay (2016)__22nd ranked defense and in Dallas (easiest by far)
QUESTION: Where would you rank the upcoming 19th ranked Rams defense playing in LA off a bye week?

My guess is somewhere around Philly (2009) and Seattle (2018)?

Also, if someone want to do one of these for the challenge for Dallas' defense, go for it. I'm sure the order would be very different.

With Wade Phillips having two weeks to prepare for this game, I'd say #2

He may have 2 weeks to prepare but he could only set base packages since he had no idea who he was going play, before Sat night it could have been Dallas, Chicago, or Seattle

Wade didn't know his opponent until Sunday, but I hear you.
Plus they'll be rested

But a road game in LA is no big deal and that D is the 2nd lowest ranked D weve faced in the playoffs in a 10 years.
Real curious...

I put it at around 6th

He would have had similar plans for Dallas and Seattle and he already successfully prepped for the Bears (held them to 15 points in a loss), so the background work was done. Wade scares me most with this match up and he could well deploy a defensive scheme that looks totally different in the 2nd half.

Either way he could not fully install anything until after the Sunday game.

Not much action here.
I don't think I have seen a full Rams game all year except maybe when they played KC!

That was a wild one. I hope we get that Wade defense! We might break 30!

Easily #1. We’ve never faced an offense like this in the playoffs before. And if the rams run up the score it makes the defenses job easier since we become more 1 dimensional.

Rams defense
19th overall in Total defense
20th in scoring defense

22nd in run defense
15th in pass defense

Where do they rank historically?
For sure WAY worse than
  • AT 5th ranked Minnesota in 2009, or
  • AT Green Bay in Lambau in freezing weather in 2014, or
  • vs 2nd ranked and dominating Detroit defense in 2014, or
  • vs red-hot 7th ranked Giants in 2007

Have to be BETTER than 22nd ranked Green bay IN Dallas in 2016 though, right?
Any others?
15th ranked Seattle in Dallas 2018?
12th ranked Philly in 2009?

Wow just another reminder of how an epic fail 2016 was. Damn.
